Isn't his "opinion" directly tied to his profession? Point is GT is supposed to be connected, he made some bold statements and has had to back peddle ever since. It all comes back to no one really knows anything the people involved don't want you to know...

I welcome his info as well, always have. I've been on this board long enough to know he says what he thinks and so do I. If Jones ends up at UK then that's a kick to his groin... No other way to put it. IMO the flirtation between UK and Jones has already debunked his opinion somewhat.

Jones may not have interest in UK but he would certainly have interest in $16,000,000. That's a bunch of zeros you know.

Let me first say I have no idea what is true about UK and Butch Jones but if UK made an offer, which has been denied, I doubt they would have done so prior to an interview.

If Kentucky doesn't get Jones or Smart then they may have to go smaller and start taking calls from Coaches that Kentucky wouldn't have any interest in.

I don't think Jones will take the UK job, and I still hold very firm in that. That is both opinion and info relayed to me by multiple sources that are connected at very high levels.

 

His agent taking calls from UK, or his agent calling UK does not change any portion of that statement. Thinking otherwise is either not wanting to or simply not understanding how coaching searches work. At this point it is Jones' agent doing his job regardless of the end result. No different than last year when Mike Thomas did everything in his power to get Jones to Illinois and the end result was a contract extension at UC. He had zero interest in the Illini job, and was never going to take it. That didn't stop their pursuit for weeks.

If Jones ends up at UK and gets a huge raise, good for him. My opinion is that it is a horrible move no matter the financial gain. There are going to be plenty of those out there for him if he so desires that don't include taking on the issues involved with the UK job.

 

His agents job is to get his client the best situation possible. Jumping from UC to UK and dealing with similar issues on a larger scale is not conducive to career growth. However, getting his client mentioned heavily on the first SEC job available is good for business. That's just how the process works...

Because of the issues mentioned by GT, I believe UK ends up with a Fulmer/Cutcliffe type coach and the fan base start blaming Barnhart. I'm continually amazed how many people just don't understand how unatractive the UK coaching position is.

The Big East is essentially going to be put in the grave football wise, if the dominoes fall and Maryland and Rutgers bolt to the Big 10 and UConn to the ACC.

I agree with the exposure part. He's got some "free air time" if nothing else.

I hope Kentucky doesn't get Fulmer. If we do we will be in the same boat we were with Joker. I did hear that Cutcliffe was out of the mix.
