Apparently you haven't followed Petrino very long. There's a whole lot more to it than just cheating on his wife. He has commitment issues. Just ask the Atlanta Falcons. He would be gone after one season if something opened up. Kentucky doesn't need somebody like that.

 

 

Scratch the Saban comment about leaving Miami for Alabama comment. But, he said he wasn't taking the Alabama job, then 10 days later, he took it.

 

Many D1 coaches have commitment issues. Look at the number of guys who leave their current jobs for another during the bowl season.

 

I'm not saying it's right, but it appears to be the nature of the beast in cases.

 

Brian Kelly left Cincy right before their bowl (not saying it's right, but the college coaching business is brutal and it's one that causes you to look out for yourself. I dont know that personally, but I have 3 close friends who are D1 and 1-AA coaches. It's a rat race and you have to look out for you.)

Another one I'm hearing from a source of mine involved the Kentucky Sports Radio is Bud Foster (DC at Virginia Tech).

 

I could dig that. Bud Foster as the HC/DC. Neal Brown as the OC. Great defense and high powered offense. That usually means success.

It's apparent we're alone on this one. It'll be worth mentioning in 5 years when Petrino is at the same job, winning, and UK is conducting its second or third coaching search in 5 years...

Needs to hire a person quickly to save recruiting season. Don't want to wait to long. Maybe do what tOSu did when the hired Urban. Joker finish the season. New coach spend all day recruiting.

I think UK needs to hire someone with head coaching experience to turn the ship around. It worked with Mumme (athough it didn't end well) and it worked with Brooks. I think Joker proved that good coordinators don't turn into good head coaches.

 

Kliff Kingsbury is the flavor of the month but can he turn the program around quicker than he should be allowed to because of SEC expectations? Can any coordinator?

After the year Louisiana Tech is having, it's conceivable that Franklin could be in line for bigger jobs than Kentucky offensive coordinator, chief of which might be the head coach at Louisiana Tech if Dykes leaves (for Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn, or wherever).
