Quick has played some D this season, but only sparingly.

This award has been James Quick's award for over a year. IF anyone was considering Timmons or thought it was close you'd still have to go with Quick due to talent level of the competition.

 

FC's schedule is dreadful.

Have never seen the Timmons kid but hear he's dynamite. He does have some numbers.

 

But as someone tonight - I believe it was Frakes? - on twitter pointed out Franklin County has only beaten one team with a winning record, while Trinity plays one of the toughest schedules in the Midwest.

Mr. Football is the best football player in the state. No offense to Timmons, but when he was a Freshman he was losing to teams like Pendleton County. James Quick was catching touchdowns in the state finals and winning state in the 200. There is no comparison between these players. Does Timmons have his choice of SEC offers?? Why would you try to compare these players? It is unfair to Timmons.

FC has no control over their class designation.

 

I know Quick is good and has more choices, but connections will play a major role in both cases.

So here is my question: The coaches knew they had a stud of a player, so why didn't they try to schedule/play at least a couple or at least one of the better opponents maybe from Louisville or NKy and then this question of who has FC played would never have come up!

 

IMHO, they (meaning his coaches) more than any of the writers or media types have hurt the young man chances of winning the award!

There is a strong bias against Louisville schools...this has been known for years. So if we do indeed win a Mr. Kentucky in football or basketball, they have to be above and beyond all others.

As far as this goes FC plays Western Hills and Frankfort High each year out of district as part of the city championship in Frankfort as both are natural rivals. The rest of the out of district schedule are 2 year contracts that are all in the 2nd year of the contract. Last year was FC's first year in 5A after all the reclassifying. That's when the schedule was set out for the last two years. So the schedule is what it is.

Jefferson County has 17% of the population of KY but has won 23% of the Mr. Football awards. How is there a strong bias against Louisville schools? Who didn't win that should have?
