Timmons will be in Columbus Saturday.

Timmons is the two time defending 100 champion and defending 200 champion in his class as well. This is a stupid arguement all it leads to is people trying to point out flaws in the kid they don't think should win it. Personally, I'm a Timmons guy but I'm biased as can be in the arguement. Both are great players and well deserving. I expect great things from both in college, they might end up on the same team.

Maybe they wouldn't if they would find ways to get in state players like Quick and Timmons.

I expect great things from both in college, they might end up on the same team.

As for an argument like this, no doubt that the bias will play out. I'm absolutely going to pull for a Trinity guy to win it. But I do believe that Timmons hasn't faced any team worthy of his abilities and that from the perspective of evaluating a player for this award, I don't have much to go on other than the fact that he can run roughshod over some pretty poor defenses. When I have to pick one of the two for an award, I'm having to pick between a guy running all over a pretty mediocre schedule or a guy having a really nice season against some of the top teams in the region.

One of the players at Cooper who also runs track was telling me there was a guy last year at the state track meet who some recruiters were looking at and this kid ran something like a 19.6 in the 200. Was that Simmons? I asked him if it was Quick and he said no, it was another guy, so that is why I am wondering if it was Timmons or not.

It could have been the kid from Ballard, not sure of his name (maybe Hardin??), but he doesn't play football, just runs track but I've heard he's ridiculously fast...

The spring 2012 meet no one ran that time. Timmons ran a 10.84 in the 100 and a 21.90 in the 200, Quick ran a 10.7 in the 100 and a 20.94 in the 200 which is also the state record.

19.6 would be the 6th fastest time EVER in the 200m. Quick has the state record at 20.93s. National highschool record is 20.13s

Comparing track times is pointless. Unless they ran in the same heat together the times can't be compared. There are too many factors involved in each individual meet/race.

i think my comments are being taken out of context. im simply asking would his numbers be similar b/c at Trinity its get it to him in open space and let him create is that what timmons does? I truly don't know.

So you think he is Mr. Football IF? Quick does not get it? Is this a case for or against Ryan??? Timmons should be Mr. Football but we all know its gonna be tough to beat out the ties, and big city connections of a Trinity Player.

 

If you look it up, there have not been a lot of winners from the big city schools. All kinds of smaller schools on the list and quite a few from Western Kentucky and there are not a lot of big city schools over here.
