A lot of talk about what if, would have. I saw the best team win. I felt Highlands dominated in the running game and go into the second game with the full passing package still in their back pocket. I said in previous thread that I expected to see a balanced attack, but with the success in the run game it was not necessary. Huge edge for H in the rematch as CC has to figure out a way to stop the run and H can come back with the passing attack That should get even better with the return of Christian between now and then.

Defensively H did things to CC that no one else has done. CC scored on short field after int, on a fourth down play. Scored on a penalty aided drive where they were stopped 3rd and long. And lastly scored on a flea flicker (I love that play) I think H handled them up front and pressured Bir at will, and clearly confused CC to the point that they forced two delay calls early as Bir checked off looked up and found the defense changed and tried to check again.

 

Remember Guru's question after CC played LeSalle? Who would win if they played ten times? From what I saw I give H 9 of 10.

The overall team speed that Highlands possesses is "silly"!!! Congrats to both teams for some entertainment. Had to sit next to the CovCath "Crazies" last night, they are a fun group of fans to watch, although the throwing of the "pom-poms" in the wind was getting a little old.

Fumbled punt gave HHS a short field.

Kickoffs by HHS bounced around too long and no return could be set up.

At least two shanked punts gave HHS good field position.

Pretty solid HHS kickoff returns gave HHS good field position.

I wasn't there either, but I think there were two fumbled punt receptions. They lost one which resulted in a Highlands TD. From the updates thread Birdsfan stated that CCH hurt themselves with dumb penalties.

Clearly a one-sided argument. Yes the case could be made that CCH was aided by short fields on some scores but HHS was as well with muffed kicks and CCH penalties. Better team won last night no doubt. Let's see what happens in November.

There are a lot of people on here assuming a rematch in November. Unless I am missing something, there is a school in Lexington that may have something to say about that.

Highlands will take what you give them. Towles had a heck of an arm last year, but as you may recall, he took over on the ground. Why? Because they took what CCH gave them. It all depends on the poison you choose, but in the end, it's ultimately a similar result.

You are missing NKY's finest football (IMHO)! The crazies were...crazy, but respectful. HHS student section was OUTSTANDING! One of the first times in memory that I've seen HHS top CovCath in this category. I loved the "delayed storming of the field." It allowed proper respect for CovCath and HHS to complete their post game handshakes. Classy move! (probably an administrator's idea). Also, touching moment before the game honoring a looong time HHS supporter. (beautifully sung anthem, too!) Put a hard fought contest in the middle of that and you have a FABULOUS night of NKY's FINEST FOOTBALL! ...and the best part NO RAIN!
