The Birds take Game 1 of the annual battle!

 

This game lived up to the hype. Despite the score, the outcome was really in question deep into the final quarter.

 

Everyone got their money's worth tonight. :thumb:

 

The re-match is going to be (to borrow a term I'm way too old to use) EPIC!

Pretty good game tonight. I do believe that the Birds are well ahead of the Colonels on speed though. Congratulations to Highlands on the big win.

Cov. Cath IMO has a more balanced and effective offense. Bir was as advertised. Only problem is he's too talented for his receiving corp. Colonels were effective in the 2nd half with the run.they scored 21 (7 off an INT, one short field given by Birds punt, and one trick play). When the Birds pentetrated, it seems they sacrificed the run and the Colonels broke off some huge yardage. Highlands on the other hand had the better athletes as a whole. Donovan McCoy took over after the INT. (reminded me of Guidugli at State) He is a playmaker and indispensable to the Bluebird offense. Harris need to run North/South. Seidl on kickoffs again North/South. Do not give short field to CCH. The Birds found themselves in many 3rd downs and somehow converted, but they easily could've gone the other way. It was their night. I think if McCoy settles down in the pocket, he would've been much more effective passing this evening.
