Highlands 35 Covington Catholic 21

7 is Matt Summe who has backed up Blake Bir at QB the last two years.

27 is Luke Bir.

Fielding punts and kickoffs seemed to be a challenge tonight for CCH.

Great game for those kids. Two good teams Highlands was just better at what they do, McCoy break you down with his feet and the Birds Rbs getting there 5-6 yards a pop. This is a simple winning formula along with no turnovers.

HHS had one TO.

Yeah I just meant their formula. Hey is Bir a fan of Aaron Rodgers, I happened to notice that at least I think lol?

Is that what TBirds was referring to? I didn't notice it.

Bir did it once and so did Summe after his TD catch. In my best Dale voice "Who is Aaron Rodgers"....Lol!!!

The wind in the 4th did CovCath no favors. Also McCoy and Harris run like men. Frog ran like a man as well, and he had a HUGE block on Harris's first TD

Also wanted to mention that I had the opportunity to meet "TheOldGuy" tonight. And you know what: he ain't half as horrible of a guy as CWB made him out to be!

Just kidding. He's a great guy and we had a nice (but brief) pre-game discussion tonight. Hope to catch up with you again at the rematch, TOG. :thumb:

And I enjoyed it BF and it was nice meeting you too!

See you in Nov!

You have to admit the CovCath "flea flicker" was a thing of beauty, CovCath was selling and Highlands bought. :thumb:

However CovCath shot themselves in the foot way too many times and you can't do that against Highlands. Enjoyable game though.

A double reverse with a 50 yard hail mary describes it better. Yea, it was well executed.

Very hard hitting game for both teams, just what I expected.

How bout the offensive Line for Highlands especially Whitford and Schweitzer. Harris was running hard and determined. mcCoy is just fast and elusive and avoids big hits. I thought Turner made a couple huge first down receptions to keep drives alive for Highlands in the 2nd half. Ball control in the 2nd half and capitalizing on the CCH mistakes were huge.

Their defensive line has got to get more disciplined, 3 offside penalties is a joke. I thoughtThe play call to end the 3rd qtr was awful. Throwing toward the motion receiver? Wow, even the little old lady standing next to me knew that was coming. They shoUld have gone to the opposite side where the CCH receiver had a 5 inch height advantage on Heck the Birds DB.

Great win for the Birds.

What a great thread. No Negativity or complaining about calls or coaching. Just props to kids from boths sides. Sounds like it was a great one. Classic Rivalry.

Rough night for the CCH D. First really good offense they've faced. 277 yards on the ground for HHS.

Bir 12/19 129 yards 3 TDs and 1 INT. Luke Bir ran for 80+ yards.
