Yes those schools have the same advantages which is why they have all won multiple state championships. Ryle on the other hand has a defined district and cannot accept tution based students so no advantage for them unless a parent is willing to buy a house in Union. Highlands and probably Beechwoods tution is also probably a quarter of what any of the area private schools is as well. I'm sure Dale Mueller would rather have 2000 boys to pick from and they would probably be even more dominant (scary thought) but its not like he's working with 300 random boys. Again nothing wrong with it, it's a good look if you can get it.

 

Highlands tuition is the same as NCC or Brossart. I know because I've paid or currently pay money to all three schools. Unless you live in Southgate; I think they have a lower tuition agreement.

Closer than I thought, HHS is $4,600 without ADA contract and $2,100 with. NCC is $5,100 or $5,800 if you're not a parish member. Ft. Thomas Independent schools has ADA contracts with Several of the smaller districts in Campbell County and all of Kenton County schools though.

Still only have 300-400 boys. Really don't get why you don't feel that's a disadvantage. Yes, they have some kids that relocate or pay tuition to be part of the program, but 90% of them are home grown in the little city.

 

Beechwood, Cov Cath, NCC and Ryle all have the same situation regarding kids coming to their program. HHS is successful because of the kids that grow up wanting to play football for Highlands, not because of a handful of transfers that want to be a part of the winning program.

 

Yes, they have a good coaching staff. But everyone has the same opportunity to go hire a good coaching staff.

 

Its the hard work and dedication that the kids buy into and are willing to go the extra mile to be successful is what makes their program. Not having over 1000 boys to choose from in one of the largest cities in KY. Take away almost a 1000 random selection of boys from Trinity ( think its been said that Trinity has around 1369 boys to HHS 400) and see if they would still be an elite program. They may be, but let that sink in. They can't pick and choose who stays and who goes, so not just the non athletes would go. For every honor student, band guy, and non athlete, an athlete is removed. Even if they kept their best players, their depth would surely take a hit.

 

Lets compare some numbers shall we? A public program with about 800 males in its male student enrollment produces about 18 varsity ready athletes per year. Thats about 1 varsity ready athlete for every 43 males enrolled. If HHS, or anybody else for that matter, has say 8 relocations/transfers etc, that is roughly equivelent to having about 350 additional males in your enrollment. That is the difference between having having completely seperate personnel for both the offensive and defensive teams, and having players playing two ways.
