Will be interesting to see how T's new O-line operates in their first game situation. Don't know what HHS has returning on the D-line to challenge them. Should be another great atmosphere to get the season rolling.

Ah, there's that great Louisville attitude we've all grown to love!

The small enrollment argument just doesn't work for Highlands and their fans should really stop using it. The coaches and current players don't use it but I digress... Last year T was clearly on a different level not only from HHS but just about everyone in the country. They did graduate one of the better O-lines in the country and probably the best ever in KY so things may be a little different this year. Especially since I think HHS is going to have a great O-line themselves this year. I expect T to win the scrimmage for whatever that's worth but I think HHS has quite a bit more success this year than in last years scrimmage. Something like 28-17 if they do the 3 quarters format.

It would be ironic if the same fans taking offense were the ones making such a claim about other teams. With me that is not the case, never have I posted that Highlands was on a diff level...

This thread is not about any teams other than Trinity and Highlands. I cant even come to a thread and give my opinion without being attacked if I dont bow down and drink the Highlands( we are better than everyone else) Kool Aid? Come on surely I can express my opinion, which is what everyone in America thinks other than the Birdfans.....I am even saying Highlands has a great program and is a very good team, just not on the same level program wise or team wise as the Rocks, nor will ever be.

It was your opinion that T would win the scrimmage. The other commentary was taken by those that were offended just how you intended. It was clearly stated in a manner that intended to raise the ire of those with other opinions. Please don't act hurt when you got the exact result that you were looking for.

 

As to the level that these teams play on,T was clearly at the top last year finishing second in the USA Today poll. Let's be reminded that just two years prior it was Highlands finishing third in that same poll. This is a new year and it may be that one or both of these teams is at that level again, or that neither rises to such heights. Friday will tell us nothing definitive on that answer, but will give us some base to gauge our future judgement. Anything said prior to that point is an opinion based on minimal factual information. Given that, extreme conjecture based on such little information is bound to give you the reaction that you received.

Highlands has 5 straight state championships. Also, look at Trinity... According to their enrollment of boys, they should win every year and should be on a different level. It all depends on how you look at things, classification, enrollment, etc. Sure if you throw everything out and just look at strictly on how well a team performs, Trinity has been better. If you look at who has done more with less, Highlands has been better. The truth is, Trinity should destroy Highlands every single year.

 

Couldn't agree more! Because of Highland's success over the years, people forget how little of a school Highlands really is. Until a few years ago, Highlands had always played up in class. They always had to beg the state NOT to move them down. They finally got moved down to the correct level...against their will. I don't think you'd find many programs begging to play up these days.

 

And just like this post says, with the enrollment differences, Trinity should be embarrassed that Highlands is even mentioned in the same breath as them. With range of area they are able to draw from and the fact that Trinity has 3 times the number of boys, Trinity should destroy Highlands every year!!! Highlands is just a small town school.

If anything, it lends credibility to the argument that while numbers help, it is other factors that catapult a program. Trinity is not embarrassed by any situation in which an opponent may excel.

I agree that Trinity's teams these last two years may be on a different level, but it silly to say the programs are on a different level. These groups of kids will move on and and others will move in. It wasn't long ago that I would say highlands was the better team. It's high school. You have good classes and you have average classes that come through. But to say one program is on another level because of a couple good classes coming through is very inaccurate. They shouldn't be embarassed. They want the best competition in the state and it happens to be from a school that is much much smaller. Trinity can't help that Highlands is small. Heck, Highlands can't help that Highlands is small. All I said was Trinity should beat Highlands every year and they have lately.

So a program that is "on another level" compared to the second best program in the state has not won state over 40 times???

 

Again sarcasm, but it makes my point. They are having a good run with a couple good classes and the PROGRAM is excellent and I would say better because of several factors (number of boys, area for available student-athletes, etc), but another level is absurd. Enjoy your run, but don't get too high on yourself.
