July 24, 201214 yr The NCAA, should have waited for all criminal and civil proceedings. Then, they should have levied their penalty. I say thus for 2 reasons. A. The NCAA should be there to govern the field of sportsmanship and allow the courts to levy fines for civil lawsuits. What the NCAA has done is levied punitive damages, but who gets the 60 million? The NCAA or the victims? U mean, will victims funds get all of it? I want to see an accounting when all funds are handed out. How will this affect the recovery of the victims when they get their day in civil court? I hope that it doesn't reduce what they could recover 2. This was not a cover up by the University, but rather four men who have been identified and will do jail time and pay damages. The NCAA should have waited to see the severity of those fines and sentences The 60 million goes to creating a child abuse awareness charity if I am not mistaken. It's my understanding the NCAA doesn't get that money. If the NCAA was wrong then why did Penn State agree to the penalties? They could have fought it if they felt it was unjust.

If the NCAA was wrong then why did Penn State agree to the penalties? They could have fought it if they felt it was unjust. If they fought it, the NCAA was likely dropping the death penalty (possibly up to 4 years) on them.

If the former, then where are the NCAA sanctions against Arkansas. If the latter, what advantage did PSU gain? Serious questions.

July 24, 201214 yr It was the head coach of the football team that plays in NCAA sanctioned events that was covering up child molestation by one of his assistants that happened in his showers in his locker room. How can the NCAA NOT be involved in the punishment?

It's clear because they just dropped the hammer on the football program. They are the governing body, so they governed. Clearly, they didn't feel a need to get involved in other situations but there also hasn't been this big of a cover up, ever.

I am not sure they will be able to sign kids at that level. I look for every Freshman and Sophmore to leave. I look for most juniors to leave. Seniors will stay and win 8 games next season. The lack of 40 kids is like Hiring Steve Kragthorpe at UL. He removed 40 kids. Difference they play in the B10.

No. But that's part of my problem with this. The NCAA put the hammer on people who covered for child molesters. Good for them. Needed to be done. But they did NOTHING to change the culture that they help prop up that led to that cover-up in the first place.
