Not one thing in that mess has been proven to be true, much less covered up from the top of the university down. Petrino? HA! That's hilarious. Seriously, step back from trying to make some crazy comparison that isn't even close to what happened at PSU. The governing body of the sport acted within the guidelines agreed upon by voluntary member institutions to punish the worst situation in the history of the NCAA. Plain and simple... You're obviously too caught up in the horror of the Sandusky acts (and I agree... they're unthinkable) to look at this objectively. As far as the NCAA is concerned, all three of those situations are very similar. Where they differ is on the LEGAL side. Of course in all the outrage, nobody seems to be able to separate the legal system from the NCAA.

What happened was truly horrible and as a father of a 5 year old, I don't know if Sandusky would be living right now if my child was involved. I do not want to defend anyone involved and that is one reason I have not commented much. BUT NCAA has overstepped its bounds. If Paterno was not all time wins leader, they would have done nothing. Baylor incident is what comes to mind.

July 25, 201214 yr Spoken like a guy that goes 6-30 and scores 15 points. Keep bragging about a horrible performance. Until the NCAA allows 15 guys on the field at a time, 65 is more than enough to play 11 on 11. Free education either way. Every kid can leave. 65 a year will still get the free ride. Only issue I have is that 20 scholarships a year are not added to the general population to spend the money already earmarked for the funds...Ask Cincinnati if they would like to play every year with 20 fewer scholarships ... I bet they wouldn't see it the way you do.

IF they covered up years of sexual abuse to children, I'd expect they'd eat it like PSU did. How can PSU accept it but you can't? Also, Emmert said that they were never given the ultimatum to accept this penalty or receive the death penalty.

My debate with gametime has nothing to do with whether the scholarship reductions are warranted. He acts like the program won't be hurt by them ... I strongly disagree.

After hearing Coach O'Brien yesterday, if what he says is somewhat true, I don't think they will suffer as much as some think.
