Many more people would feel the NCAA isn't doing their job if they let PSU slide without consequence than those that feel they should've stayed out of it.

Spoken like a guy that goes 6-30 and scores 15 points. Keep bragging about a horrible performance. Until the NCAA allows 15 guys on the field at a time, 65 is more than enough to play 11 on 11. Free education either way. Every kid can leave. 65 a year will still get the free ride. Only issue I have is that 20 scholarships a year are not added to the general population to spend the money already earmarked for the funds...

You're way too smart to think this isn't new ground for the NCAA. Now the bylaws are certainly worded in a way that they can squeeze this in, but that doesn't mean its not noteworthy.

 

If this was normal practice for the NCAA, they would have been all over the Fine and Petrino situations. And what did the NCAA do in those cases? Not a darn thing.

They still might be all over the Fine situation but to use that fiasco at this point is an insult to the intelligence of everyone on this board. Not one thing in that mess has been proven to be true, much less covered up from the top of the university down.

The governing body of the sport acted within the guidelines agreed upon by voluntary member institutions to punish the worst situation in the history of the NCAA. Plain and simple...

The NCAA should have waited for the real court system to act before levying that large of a fine. Take scholarships and wins, I agree. Taking potential victim damages, if reducing them? I don't like that.

I don't disagree with you about the fine. They probably could have waited to deliver a fine and I do doubt that Penn State has already cut the check. At the same time, Penn State agreed to the punishment.

They were fined the typical 1 year income of the football program to be paid over 5 years to charity. Will not have an impact on what the victims get. The PSU endowment is billions...
