I vaguely remember David Justice was in Germantown when I was a kid (mid 90s) and was going to play softball. As a kid it was just awesome seeing a mlb player crushing slow pitch softball pitches in the neighboring tobacco field. I mean really this guy as just on TV the other day with the Braves. Now he HERE in Germantown. Really??

 

Ohhhhhhh yeah...I forgot about that one. David Justice went to Thomas More College with my uncle. I met him several times.

Played against him that day...by "played against", I mean I watched as hit he towering blasts over my head.

Your seat was probally better than mine. I was on the jungle gym/swing set area down the right field line. Then I was in the tobacco feild the next day looking for softballs. :thumb:

It sayseems brushes with fame, not infamy.

I have a few of them, I'm sure many can guess on many if them. But in a couple of months I may be adding the biggest name to my list.

I sat in the front row at a performance of "Hedwig and The Angry Inch" at the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati right next to Geezer Butler, the bass player of Black Sabbath and his girlfriend Lindsey.

 

I Chit-chatted with her outside before the show while catching a smoke, and by total coincidence we had seats right next to each other.

 

She told me outside that she and her boyfriend travelled the world watching performances of "Hedwig" done by local communities. I asked her how they had such freedom to roam the world doing that, and she said that her boyfriend was the bassist for a famous band. I asked her who and she said that he wouldn't dig it if she had said who.

 

So when we ended up sitting next to each other my curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask (hopefully it didn't get her in any hot water), and he looks at me not too thrilled and in a British accent says "The James Gang", which I didn't contest, but inside I thought that it didn't make much sense. I couldn't think off hand who the bassist for the "TJG" was, but I didn't think that he'd be British, or be that wealthy still from the 1970's from that gig to be so free to travel the world just for kicks.

 

A couple of weeks later I'm watching a Black Sabbath video and bingo there he was, Geezer Butler. It all fell into place, and made much more sense.

 

"TJG" had two bassists over the years in Tom Kriss and Dale Peters, both who I've never heard of before.

Right Center Field....lol Crazy enough those weren't the farthest balls I saw hit there.

 

i think the way the fence dipped in in right center made the shots that much more impressive. :lol2:

Justin Long is currently in Louisville filming a movie (apparently something based on a book called Project X by Jim Shepard). I ran into him over the weekend when my wife and I were at Sergio's World of Beers. I didn't engage him, but someone else sitting near me did. Long seemed like a ha-yuuuge tool.

Lots of celebrities in the Nati recently. John Travolta and Kelly Preston are there filming a movie about John Gotti. Colin Farell and Nicole Kidman are filming a movie across the river in Covington.
