Johnson Central beat Ashland and Sheldon Clark at Sheldon Clark yesterday. Shane Hall Didn't play for Johnson central and Justin Johnson didn't play for SC.

What teams are playing at Morehead St this weekend?

Highlands is heading that way.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Surgery is required and is scheduled for June 28th. Nate has a positive outlook and a goal of missing ZERO varsity games.

McGovney is a gritty, gutty kid, who competes to win at all costs. I'm sure that mentality will manifest itself in his therapy and recovery, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be good to go when the ball goes up in November.

Hope he doesn't rush it and reinjure it. Take it slow and do it right.

Best of luck to Nate. Hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

Nate, best wishes for a quick recovery and hope to see you on the court soon.

Horrible news. Last thing anyone would want to see is someone getting hurt their senior year. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Nate. Hope to see him on the floor for the first game of the season but hope he does not come back too soon. Good luck and hope you have a very successful senior season.

When does the 'dead period' start and what exactly does that mean?

Heard Highlands took an 0-3 this weekend at Morehead? Who did they play and who looked good? Understand that Nick True is not competing this summer nor is Seth Hope, so who has been manning the middle for the Birds? What is the outlook for next years team and who will be the key cogs?

Dead period is always June 25 through July 9.

Dead period refers to a time where no team activities can take place.

I remember coaches getting in trouble for just being in the same gym during the dead period. Even the same AAU event as a spectator where a member of the team was playing.

Some coaches do little kid camps during the dead period. I believe that is also breaking the rule.

Some districts close down all facilities during the dead period to avoid issues.

Way more action this weekend at Morehead. Birds played 8 games over the 3 days. Actually were 2-6 with most games being close. Ashland and Fleming County were the two teams that handed the Birds the worst defeats. Ashland took advantage of the lack of a post player while Fleming County has a couple of very talented players. Fleming's point guard is very smooth. His quickness was too much for HHS to defend.

Good experience for some of the younger players.

Very undermanned from what I heard. Witte has had to play the 4 most of the summer due to lack of size and with his increased strength has helped on the boards and he didnt make the Morehead trip. Feggins the bruising soph didnt make the trip either and he is strong on the boards. Gronotte and Houliston sat out a few of the games as well with injuries and I believe they were down to 8 players. I agree, great experience for the young guys (Weyer, Brockett, Hergott) to get some VArsity action. I have NO Clue why Nick True is not participating in summer hoops but I can tell you this he would greatly benefit from it. He missed all of last summer with the shoulder injury. Seth Hope from what I understand has drank the Blue kool aid.

This week the Birds have two practice days and a scrimmage at Mason Co on Friday.

As far as key cogs....the Birds will need to get scoring from the trio of Turner/Witte and Houliston this season and everyone will need to attack the glass in order for them to compete.

"Don't come near the school to shoot around during the dead period, whether the coach is here or not"

That is what my kid was told by his coach today.
