An attempt to evaluate the possible trade market for the Reds...

Featured Replies

The possible sellers so far and the names that may be moved by them...

Royals-Jeff Francoeur, Jonathan Sanchez

Twins -Carl Pavano, Justin Morneau, Matt Capps and Josh Willingham

Athletics -Grant Balfour, Coco Crisp and Brandon McCarthy

Mariners -Brandon League, Ichiro (Highly Unlikely, but anythings possible he may want to play for a contender he isn't getting any younger)

Cubs-Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza, Shawn Camp, Bryan LaHair, Jeff Baker, Alfonso Soriano and David DeJesus

Astros-Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Myers and Carlos Lee

Rockies-Jason Giambi, Jeremy Guthrie, Marco Scutaro and Rafael Betancourt

Brewers -Zack Greinke, Shaun Marcum and Francisco Rodriguez

Phillies- Shane Victorino

Padres-Carlos Quentin and Chase Headley

In the end I really don't see the Brewers or Phillies making any moves though...Anybody of interest for the Reds...

I like the names of Francouer, Quentin, and Dempster

Byrd hits right and has a .286 OBP this year...He is working towards his 3rd team in one season for a reason...

Id rather try to get a Denard Span type or Dexter Fowler although im not sure anyone of them is available...The Reds need either a cleanup hitter or a leadoff hitter...

Good luck getting those guys and we already went over the contact issues with Span.

Jeff Francoeur is one name that I keep hearing...The Royals Top Prospect Wil Myers and the Top Power Prospect in baseball Wil Myers is knocking on the door to a promotion...

He's a Drew Stubbs with less speed, and fewer K's.

DeJesus' .271 avg and .371 OBP are somewhat enticing if they're seriously looking for a LH bat...

I like him as well as an option...

The Red Sox are getting close to getting Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford back. When that happens they will have a surplus of outfielders. Ryan Kalish, Daniel Nava, Ryan Sweeney and Cody Ross have all been productive as their replacements. At least one of them will be the odd man out and could be had for very little.

I like Nava I think he switch hits and could be a decent lead off hitter, I also like Ross...The problem I have is the Reds have a log jam going now with Rolen back and Dusty is not very good at managing many guys that play the same positions...If the Reds acquire an OFer they need to get rid of an Ofer as well IMO...Frazier, Ludwick, Heisey, Stubbs, Bruce plus another OFer would cause Dusty problems, he wouldn't know what to do...A guy like Ross would need to play almost everyday if he were to get traded to the Reds but with Rolen healthy and manning 3rd, Frazier won't be playing there often...How would Dusty keep everyone happy...

Rosenthal On Greinke, Youkilis, Podsednik, Giants: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Would Scott Podsednik interest anyone? He has been pretty productive the last few years and the Red Sox are about to have a log jam in their OF...He seems to follow the path the Reds like to take as far as trades go, Old OF'ers near the end of their careers like Edmonds and Bloomquist...The Reds wouldn't have to give up a whole lot and that's why they tend to go after guys like this instead of making the big deadline splash that some other teams make...

I was very impressed with Ben Revere this weekend. He would look very nice at the top of the Reds lineup. Have no idea what it would take to get him.

Agreed I have been on board with that for a while...I'm not sure the Twins are willing to move him though...

I'd shocked if the Twins were willing to give up Revere.

Slugging star Encarnacion likely to become available if depleted Jays become sellers - CBSSports.com

Would anyone be interested in bringing him back? I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but I would think about sending Gregorius and Lotzkar for him but it would probably take more...Lotzkar is a canadian and one of the Reds better pitching prospects so I could see that interesting the Jays and Gregorius is a future starter at SS or 2B...It would be hard to part with Gregorius but if the Reds make a trade before the deadline it will probably include him...

Where is he going to play?
