It's pretty close to the league average for OBP from a leadoff guy. Likd I said, OPS for a leadoff hitter means nothing to me. He'd be better than what the Reds are running out there at the leadoff spot this year and most of the past 7 years as well.

He is a good player and most people other than you would agree...Nobody is saying he is great or a superstar or even an All Star because he has never made an All Star game, but he is a good player that everyteam could benefit from having...

 

He has over 2000 hits that alone has to account for something...Im not saying he is as good as Jose Reyes, Kenny Lofton or even Ichiro but his numbers some years minus HRs havent been to far off from those guys...

If you are a casual fan that just looks at batting average and stolen bases, you might conclude that Pierre has been a good player throughout his career.

The Cubs didn't attempt to resign him. The Dodgers signed to him a big contract, then ate much of it.

 

When Pierre could play CF, he was a decent player. He lost that ability a few years ago.

If he wasn't still a productive player he wouldn't keep finding jobs every year. I'll trust the opinion of the major league GM's over yours...

He was signed to a minor league contract, which is a good indication no one thought he was very productive.

im not sure that Denver had an affect on him either because he doesnt hit for power...

He played about 2 1/3 years there...You dont give up do you, got too much.time on your hands...How many years has he played? He had one good full year in Coors and even his road numbers were above average...Coors had no effect on his power numbers, however he could have been more comfortable hitting there due to it being his home field...Many guys hit better at home...Id be worried if he then only hit. 250 on the road but he didnt he hit much better...

 

He has had average to above average years every year in the show...He has had great years in Fla as well as LA and for the White Sox...

 

First Hamiltons not a superstar and now Pierre isnt considered a good player despite 2000+ hits a near. 300 avg and having one of the best eyes amd contact rates in the game for the last 10+ years...

 

Im really beginning to consider that you dont like anyplayer and like to give no one the credit they are due...

Im considering starting a Juan Pierre game tracking thread...The guy is tuff and a player...Teams want to right him off now that he is older but once they see him play they cant take him out if their lineup...

 

3-4 with a Double tonight and an RBI...340 avg for the year now and a .529 avg over the last 7 days ...he is 34 and has the chance to have one of his better years...He is durable and in great shape if he can play till he is 38 or so and I think he will he could finish with 2500 career hits...
