January 6, 201313 yr Just finished "Killing Lincoln". Really enjoyed the book. I think my favorite part was the first that showed the final days/battles of the Civil War. Also finished "No Easy Day". This was the controversial book about the killing of OBL. I find that the story up to the actual raid was interesting, but the actual events of the take down was disappointing. Still I would recommend it. Reading "The Presidents Club" now.

The book was pretty much a-political, but there was an interesting plug towards the end (again, non-political) singing the praises of Ross Perot. Apparently Perot quietly spends LOTS of his personal money putting it towards helping the families and friends of injured US Special Forces veterans. Durant wanted to make sure Perot was properly thanked for all that he did to help him and his loved ones. It was just an interesting, and unexpected detail that came along with the read.

January 28, 201313 yr Finished "(Bleep) My Dad Says" this past Thursday. I was recommended to read it because of my fondness for David Sedaris' work, but this one was pretty disappointing. In 150 pages or so, it only managed to get a couple of chuckles out of me. I'll stick to Sedaris.
February 2, 201313 yr James Patterson's Private Berlin Just finished it. I like this "Private" JP series. I enjoy reading these mysteries set in different cities. This one was infused with lots of East Berlin/West Berlin walled city history and drama.

February 4, 201313 yr I'm the better part of half way through "To End All Wars: A Story of Loyalty and Rebellion, 1914-1918" by Adam Hochschild right now. It's a look at the events leading up to and throughout the first world war. It's interesting that it frequently switches between the perspectives of the military leadership, the anti-war activists, suffragists, and socialists during the era. Really interesting.
