March 19, 201313 yr Re-reading my grandfather's WWI diary and letters. It is an eloquently written, fascinating account of his experiences during the war. I have a copy of them, given to me by my grandmother 30 years ago. She did not wish to have a book made from them, though there were several offers. Instead she gave them to UofL, to keep for posterity. The originals are in the University of Louisville Special Collections and Archives. Michael A. Lewis (1891- 1970) papers That's a pretty incredible thing to have. I'd love to get to read them some time.

April 11, 201313 yr Anyone use the website Goodreads? You can rate books you've read and it gives you recommendations based on those. Sort of like Netflix.
April 12, 201313 yr Toughness by Jay Bilas. Really loved the article he did for ESPN a couple of years talking about toughness on the court. Thought it was a must read for basketball players and coaches and really anyone who loved the game. REally struggling with the book as it is just not as good a read. Only about 25% into the book so hopefully it will get better.
April 13, 201313 yr Has anyone read John Fante? I'd never heard of him until I saw a random quote from Charles Bukowski saying he was a necessary read. I take that kind of thing seriously. Also finished a book called Seeing Like a State. I found it fascinating. It's certainly not a light read, but I imagine many people here would find it interesting.

April 23, 201313 yr Author Got back into reading on a moderate level lately after taking off for a few months (reading literally made me sick - long story). Read 3 books in the last couple of weeks. "The Fragile Species", Thomas Lewis. Lewis Thomas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Earl in the Yellow Shirt", Janice Daugharty. Neat little piece of southern fiction. "Commonwealth", Joey Goebel. Kentucky author.
