LHL Calipari Cartoon

I find the envy of IU fans to be hilarious. Their inferiority complex is astonishing.

It might be funny but is a very poor business decision on the part of the HL. Let's just assume for a minute that 25% of their readers are UK fans, half of those are offended, half of those cancel. That right at a 6% decline in their subscription base. In an industry that's hanging by a thread, ticking of a chunk of your base is just plain ignorant.

Now this is funny. The first picture is of Tom Crean's trohy case and the second is Indiana's trophy case since 1987, of course.

Maybe not the best business decision. On the other hand, if people really get offended by this, we live in a sad world.

OK but it is what it is. Saying "people shouldn't have been offended by this" won't matter much is someone if laid off due to reduced revenue.

Let's face it the newspaper industry is quickly crumbling. Given that it's just stupid to intentionally make half of your subscribers mad. Just ignorant.

I'll bet LHL has their highest hit stat since UK won the tourney.

Do you take everything negative about Kentucky and Cal so personal?

No. I wonder how IU fans would react if a UK fan was working at the Herald Times in Bloomington and posted a similar cartoon bashing IU and Crean?

Funny for Cal Haters, but Lexington Herald Leader is not the place for it.

I'd say that's spot-on.

I'm not a crazy UK fan but I didn't find it particularly clever or amusing. It was fairly cliche and a bit of a stretch.

Some idiot posted the guys address and phone on a message board saying maybe they should egg/toilet paper his house. How much more pathetic can your life be? I'm embarrassed to be a UK fan sometimes. The internet is a sick and twisted place sometimes.

As well as numerous cancellations.

The cartoon itself is not clever or funny but also not offensive. The fact that the local paper embraces this is beyond me. Hey, let's go try to offend all of our readers! Brilliant!!

You would think the hometown paper would embrace the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, you would think.

The part of this I find most amusing is that most people only saw the cartoon because it was posted on KSR.

Here's an interview with Pett on KSR.

He's pretty ridiculous. "alleged student athletes...supposedly go to school...for a year"

This guy came across as a Grade A jerk and clearly has a lot of hate for UK. Sounds about right for a LHL employee.
