The playoff are finally here and if they are anything like the regular season, then we could be in store for some mind-blowing things to happen..

Region 1

Trinity hosted Muhlenberg County in round one. The Shamrocks did’t have much trouble at all in this contest, cruising to a 69-0 win. Trinity got some good news as running back Luke McGuire played in this game. He could be key for the Shamrocks to make a run for the title.

McCracken County would welcome Jeffersontown for their 1st round matchup. McCracken County would also have no problem in the contest. They would win the game 50-12, pushing their winning streak to 6 games.

Henderson County welcomed Eastern in their match-up. Henderson County didn’t get a running clock like the top seeds for the region but they did get an impressive 35-0 shutout. Henderson County will travel to Trinity next week.

Ballard opened up round 1 with Daviess County, picking up the win, 33-7. Ballard will travel to McCracken County next week for a shot to go deeper in the playoffs.

Region 2

Saint Xavier opened up at home against Ohio County, picking up a big 68-0 win.

North Hardin hosted Manual in the 1st round of the playoffs in what was not your typical 1 vs. 4 matchup. Manual possibly could have won some of the other districts, but they play in the toughest district in the state. North Hardin would get a hard fought 14-0 win over Manual. North Hardin seems to be playing some good football right now.

Butler made a trip to Central Hardin in the 1st round to play the Bruins. Butler came out on top in this one 33-8. Butler got big time numbers from Demontae Crumes, and Frank Caldwell. These two combined for close to 250 yards of offense and 4 touchdowns. Butler will get a rematch with Saint Xavier in the 2nd round.

Male hosted Meade County, picking up its 8th running clock of the season in a 36-0 win. Male sits at 10-1 on the season, and will travel to North Hardin next week.

Region 3

Conner welcomed Lafayette into town, picking up a 28-7 win. Conner got a big time game out of Christian Webster, who rushed for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns. The team put up 339 total yards of offense.

Madison Central hosted and made quick work of Seneca, 50-0. Madison Central would only have 234 total yards of offense in the game. The defense also pitched in and scored two touchdowns via fumble and interception.

George Rogers Clark hosted Cooper. George Rogers Clark wouldn’t be the happy team in this one, as Cooper won big, 48-21. Cooper will get a rematch with Conner who beat them a few weeks ago, 19-14.

Ryle hosted the Tates Creek Commodores in a game similar to the other 2 vs. 3 matchups. Tates Creek got a big 43-20 victory and will get a rematch as well with Madison Central, who beat them 33-18 over a month ago.

Region 4

Simon Kenton welcomed Bryan Station to town, picking up a 48-34 win. Simon Kenton rushed for over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns. Caleb Farfsing rushed for over 215 yards and threw for 48 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Frederick Douglass opened against Pleasure Ridge Park, picking up their eighth running clock of the season in a 42-8 win, keeping a record perfect 11-0 on the season. Frederick Douglass put up over 375 yards of total offense. Quarterback Cameron Jones threw for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Henry Clay Played Boone County. Henry Clay took a massive blow to its offense a few weeks ago losing DJ Vanhorn to a season ending injury. Henry Clay has pushed on behind seniors Langston and Raymond Jackson. They would pick up a hard fought 21-14 victory. Henry Clay will travel next week to take on Simon Kenton.

Campbell County welcomed the Scott County Cardinals for a 1st round matchup. Scott County put a running clock on the Camels and cruise to a 36-13 win. Scott County accounted for more than 250 yards of offense and 4 touchdowns. The defense recovered 2 fumbles for touchdowns as well. This win will give Scott County another shot at Frederick Douglass in round 2.

Overall Thoughts

I think we all see the favorites in the second round will win. I also think round 2 has the possibility of 4 upsets. What are your thoughts?
