A Winter Storm Warning has just been issued for WKY.

Including the cities of Golconda, Elizabethtown, Smithland,

Marion, Princeton, Morganfield, Dixon, Madisonville, Henderson,

Owensboro, and Calhoun

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM CST TUESDAY...

...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO

11 AM CST TUESDAY...

 

* WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Very cold wind chills expected.

Plan on difficult travel conditions. Additional snow

accumulations of two to three inches are expected. Expect wind

chills to range from 5 above zero to 15 below zero.

 

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois and western Kentucky.

 

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 4 AM Tuesday. For

the Wind Chill Advisory, midnight to 11 AM Tuesday.

 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in

visibility at times. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite

in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather

conditions are occurring. If you must travel, keep an extra

flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an

emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are

calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

 

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will

combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can

occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and

gloves.
