Class 1A

Paintsville is officially the undisputed regular season Champion of the Eastern Semi-State. The Tigers took care of Raceland in convincing fashion and now own victories over all four teams in the East that are currently ranked. The Tigers now turn their focus on a ranked 3A Fleming County to wrap up their regular season. Kentucky Country Day got all they could handle from Frankfort, yet the Bearcats prevailed. They test their team speed against the ultra-athletic Waggener Wildcats. Though the regular season is ending we still have two more treats just in time for Halloween. Top-ranked Beechwood takes on historic rival Newport Central Catholic, and we get the rare Week 10 clash of ranked 1A teams as Paris and Ludlow cross District lines one last time.

Class 2A

Danville and Lexington Christian Academy provided all the drama we had hoped for throughout the majority of the game. Ultimately, Danville pulled away late, thanks to some big play making from their dynamic skill players. Outside of the huge District clash between Top 5 teams, the drama was light last week. Mayfield moves to the third spot but will have to finish the year in style to stay there, drawing a ranked 3A Caldwell County. Mayfield is not the only team stepping up competition in the final week. Glasgow gets an excellent Elizabethtown team as well with one last chance to make a statement heading into November.

Class 3A

No team in Class 3A looks better coming down the stretch than the Boyle County Rebels. Chuck Smith's crew absolutely embarrassed Western Hills, much like they have embarrassed competition all season, and move a step closer to the top spot. Corbin didn't necessarily do anything wrong, but they did get into a somewhat unexpected dogfight with Casey County that was tied in the 4th Quarter, before the Redhounds pulled away aided by Casey County miscues. Class 3A is ending the Regular Season in style with seven of the ten teams playing ranked foes from other classes. As a result, we may see one more final shakeup before it is all said and done.

Class 4A

Ashland had to feel like doing their best Kirk Cousins impersonation following their surprising upset over Johnson Central, "How Do You Like That?!?!". In a class that was a roller coaster all season, the only team that had remained tried and true every week was Johnson Central until Ashland sent shock waves. The Golden Eagles must rally against 3A's top team to avoid entering the playoffs on a two-game losing streak. Knox Central has flown under the radar most of the year. The Panthers made a statement by winning in convincing fashion over Rockcastle County and can serve notice even more if they can somehow upset 3A Corbin. Wayne County takes the top spot but can not rest on their laurels against a solid 5A Madison Southern. Scott feels their pain. After working all season to get into the Top 10 they have to show up against 2A Lloyd Memorial to end the year with a number by their name.

9. Rockcastle County at 3A Garrard County

10. Scott vs. 2A #8 Lloyd Memorial

Class 5A

South Warren has wanted a shot at Bowling Green since their school formed and finally got it Friday. After the Purples dominated the game they may be singing a different tune. Christian County and Covington Catholic are only one week away from a perfect record, they should both be substantial favorites in the finals. Madison Southern has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the Class. The Eagles put the finishing touches on a District Title against Anderson County, but get an extremely stiff test against 4A's new #1 team Wayne County.

1. Covington Catholic at 6A Campbell County

2. Bowling Green at Bullitt Central

3. Christian County at 3A Paducah Tilghman

4. South Oldham vs. 4A Shelby County

5. Madison Southern at 4A #1 Wayne County

6. South Warren at 2A Owensboro Catholic

7. Southwestern vs. 3A #7 Lexington Catholic

8. Doss at 6A North Hardin

9. Apollo vs. 6A Daviess County

10. Fern Creek -- OPEN

Class 6A

Whatever doubts people had about Scott County may have been answered as the Cardinals appeared impressive against Pleasure Ridge Park. Scott County is yet to lose to a Kentucky team as they enter the playoffs. Trinity put the final touches on their own regular season masterpiece and will rest up for the playoffs as the consensus top team in the Commonwealth. The biggest eye opener in Class 6A was Ryle's impressive win over previously undefeated Simon Kenton. St. Xavier looked sharp by overwhelming Butler, the Tigers close the year facing their evil doppelganger from the Buckeye State. One game of interest to foreshadow how the playoffs may go is a cross-District clash between Frederick Douglass and Conner. Douglass proved to be the best of the Lexington Public Schools. They need to look sharp against a Conner team that was in the middle of the pack in Northern Kentucky.

1. Trinity -- OPEN

2. Scott County -- OPEN

3. St. Xavier vs. St. Xavier (OH)

4. Male -- OPEN

5. Ryle at 5A Dixie Heights

6. Pleasure Ridge Park at 3A #5 Central

7. Simon Kenton -- OPEN

8. Butler -- OPEN

9. Frederick Douglass vs. Conner

10. Manual at Eastern
