I went to school, and played with Shane in High School and Middle School. He is a very good person, and is a good hire Muhlenerg North. Hopefully he can get thier program turned around. Best of luck Shane.

Jackson County is playing football, but I believe just JV this season.

Last season against Somerset, Jimmy Chaffin of Lynn Camp ran for a couple tds, caught a couple of tds, and returned a kick for a td. He came close to throwing a td, as a pass was broken up in the end zone. He also kick 4 or 5 extra points that night.

You would know better then me on what he did, I just remember he ran a punt back for a score.

Pugh did it against Evarts. I think he threw and ran for 9tds and scored another on a punt return.

Usually year in and year out Lynn Camp will play one of the toughest in the district, and this year is no exception. LC plays Leslie County, who losses some good player off a 9 and 2 team but return the Howard kid who is as good as any back in the mts. Middlesboro is returning almost their entire team, and should be a high top ten team in 2A. Perry Central had a bad year last year, but return the Willis kid, and being a 3A team, and playing up their could be a very tough game. Whitley County rounds out the non district schedule. Last season Lynn Camp beat Whitley for the first time in 15 years. Whitley returns a lot good young talent, and is large in numbers, size, and strength this will be a very physical game for Lynn Camp.

Congrats to Norman, and I hope down the road he gets a chance to play at a D1 school. Is he going to play both sports, or just football?

Of course you can't replace Jimmy Chaffin or Josh Reynolds, those type of players don't come around every year. As far as tailbacks goes, Joe Roskopf is one of the best we have had. If he stays healthy, and the oline stays healthy Joe is going to have a big year.

I'm not real worried about our backfield at LC. Joe Roskopf is as good as any back we have ever had. Jonah Mitchell takes over at qb. He is tough kid, and has a good head on his shoulders. The good thing about starting a young qb at LC, the system makes it easy for a qb. He will be fine as long as he doesn't fumble the hand off. Sidney Wagner will take over Jimmy Chaffin spot. He has worked as hard in the off season waiting for his chance, and now is his time. He has great speed and strength. Cameron Simpson will play at fullback. Cameron is a great blocker which is what is needed out of an LC fullback. Ricky Wynn will also play quite of bit in the backfield.

So when or if are they going to bring this to a vote?

All but one guard Rick May will be back. Michael Hall will step in at that guard position, who is bigger and stronger than Rick, but losing Rick will hurt because he one of the best fundamental lineman to play at LC, and he never did anything that would lose you a game. I also expect the Harlan and LC game to be much closer. The last two years were unusual scores when the two play. Usually it is close exciting game. I would look for it to be like that this year.

Somerset should be the favorite for the district title. They return Ross Deaton and John Cole, maybe the best qb-wr combo in Class A. Somerset will need another reciever and a runningback to step up. Replacing the likes of Ray Norman and Scott Newell will not be easy. Lynn Camp I would think is second right now. LC returns possibly the best O-line in the region. This line has played together for three years, and in the last two years LC has gained over 5000 yards the last two years on the ground. LC also returns 1000 yard Joe Roskopf who imo will be the top back in the region this up coming season. Concerns for LC will be the play of their defense which struggled at times last season, depth which is also a concern, and special teams. 3 out of LC last 4 losses have been the results of poor special teams play. Two of which have cost them second round exits in the last two playoff years. Williamsburg is my early pick for third. The Jackets return almost their entire team, including Tomas Frazier and Chase Hamblin, and Aaron Root who is a very good lineman on offense and LB on defense. Concerns for the Jackets will be size and injury. WHS was hurt by injuries last season. Harlan is a team that you always have to be ready for, they are big and physical. They play very good defense, usually stat wise one of the tops in the region. The problem for dragons was on offense, they struggled to score, and losing Teddy Thompson will not help, but if they can find some offense this season, they will be a contender for the district title. Cumberland is a team that was young last season, and also should be better. They have a very good shot at the playoffs, Michael Washington returns to Cumberland. If he doesn't the Skins still could have enough for the playoffs. I like the play of their young qb last season. Evarts lost a lot from last season, and to be honest don't know much about them coming up. They are well coached, they will be big and physical, and could the dark horse in the 06 season. Pineville returns some good players in Adams and Lord, and they like most of the teams in the district had big lineman. They have also struggled the score in recent years, and have a lot of trouble holding on to the ball. With their coach leaving they have a lot of unanswered questions right now. Pineville has improved since they went 0 and 10 in 04, but not sure if they have enough to make the playoffs.

Not in most years. Last year Cumberland and Williamsburg would have made the playoffs in the 4th spot, and in 2004, Evarts and Cumberland who didn't make the playoffs could have finished as high as second. This past season the region feature 5 good teams, that saw who ever was playing at home get the win. This could be big for district 8, with the winner of the district hosting 4 playoff games next year. Other then Lynn Camp District 7 teams have not played well on the road in recent years.

I saw Ryan wrestling up in London a couple of weeks ago. He is Wrestling in OVW which is like the triple league for the WWE, plus he is under contract with the WWE. With his size he has a future, and I would think making more money then he would if he went back to Williamsburg, but you never know.

Joe Roskopf of Lynn Camp has about 4.6 speed, and he has had a great off season, which should make him better. Sidney Wagner also has tremendous speed, and hopefully will have a breakout season.
