St. Patrick 34 Campbell County 22 (Frosh)
It would be nice if they would select an all tourney team. Several girls played really well. It would also be nice to see some stats. I was curious about the Montgomery game. I also noticed how they (MC) didn't play their bench. They seemed to have a lot of height on their bench. St Patrick has a deep bench with a lot of talent there.

Good to see the Saints win the title. They are a talented team.

Girls 10th Region "All A" Prediction Thread for Tournament
With Ahrens back in the line-up, Bracken Co. gains some additional size, but I still think St. Patrick has the advantage. St. Patrick has a quick team and they have a lot of depth on their bench.

Paris does have a nice gym, probably twice the seating capacity of Brossarts.

That link must be last years because when I click on I see Mason County at #10 with a 10-2 record. Try this one http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20090108/SPORTS05/90108038/1002/SPORTS

East Carter 53 West Carter 49 (OT)
I am very surprised it was that close. I thought East would win but by a much bigger margin.

I think most parents can do this....it is just a small percentage that can't. I know from experience it is just one or two parents that tend to be problems for a coach. Honestly, if you think back to teams your child has played on, can you really say that most parents are problems? And to any coaches reading this, can you honestly say that the majority of your players parent's are a problem? Of all the teams my children have played on, (basketball, soccer, baseball, softball) I will say that it has always been one or two players parent's who seem to be chronic complainers. Think about it? I personally am insulted that you make such a blanket generalization about all parents when realistically it is a small percentage that create problems. If I was that dissatisfied with a coach, I would take my kid off the team before I would become one of those parents that thinks they need to be in the coaches face at all times. I have even considered taking my child off a team because I was not happy with a coach who, imo, was worried about pleasing some whining parents to the point that the team was losing games they should have won.

St. Patrick 86 West Carter 58
I heard someone from East after the East game say that that game against St. Patrick was the best they've seen East play this year. East plays West on Friday. It will be interesting to see who wins that one, although I think East will win.

Closed practices
I know of a player who came close to assaulting a coach once in front of the team and I guess in your opinion, if the player had assaulted the coach, then that would be grounds for not having practice anymore? I say deal with the issue and don't make blanket rules based on isolated incidents. If the gym can't accomodate practices with parents there due to gym size then deal with that and tell parents that that is the real reason why you would prefer they not be there.

By-laws question
I was having a conversation with a man and he was talking about a coach who gave a player a ride home after a practice and he said that was against the KHSAA rules and that the coach could get in trouble for that. The thing is is that the coach and the parents of the child are good friends and they socialize on a regular basis and their children (who play on the team together) are also good friends. He was saying that the coach was not allowed to do favors for players, it was a violation. I know for a fact that a parent of the player could not get off work to pick the child up and asked the coach to drop the child off. It was really just a friend helping out a friend. I know that a coach could not do this for a player that attends another school and is a potential "recruit" (for lack of a better word) but I have never seen anything in the by-laws about a coach not being able to do a favor for a current player. It just seems rediculous since the parents are good friends. Is this man correct and if there is a rule in the by-laws, where would I find it.

Blue Chip High Exposure rankings
I'm pretty sure Kasey Litzinger (Lizinger, on their list) is not a Sr. this year.

Lewis County 54 Mason County 51
They do have some talent but really only based on their age/grade level. Their varsity team, being made up of girls who would at most schools being playing JV or freshman ball, would probably do well playing other JV or freshmen teams. They just don't have the experience at such a young age to run with the big girls if you ask me. In a few years they should be doing well. It's just a rebuilding year for them and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone knowing what they lost last year.

St. Patrick dropped from Bourbon Tourneys?
Who at the school would have been responsible for confirming St. Patrick's participation in the tournament? Maybe it wasn't that they were dropped but that there was no one who followed up on this on the schools end. The lack of an AD over the summer combined with a temporary "Athletic Committe" when school resumed (which, btw, was comprised of people with little or no knowledge of scheduling when it comes to high school sports) could have led to this mix up. Not saying it did, just throwing that out as a possibility.

Scott best in 10th?
I would have to agree. Last year Scott had a player named Brown who was one of their top three players stat wise (along with Tibbs and Berzinger). She is not on the roster this year so I am assuming she graduated. I don't know what they have gained but they were 11-18 last year. Tibbs may be good but one player does not a team make. I guess we'll see as the season progresses.

Vulgar Comment
The same thing happened at a freshmen game I attended last year and it was reported to the AD but nothing was done. I,myself, wondered who you would go to next to complain. Were you attending a game in the tenth region area? Maybe it was the same ref.

St. Patrick 71 Bracken Co. 60
No, just agreeing to the part that the saints "should have" won by more. Guess I should have highlighted that part or deleted the "dumb" part. I didn't mean imply that anyone is dumb. Sorry! I would also like to add that I don't like to predict for fear of jinxing a team.

I agree, the Saints could have/should have won by more. After reading the predictions thread....I wondered how many would be eating their words this morning. I hate to make predictions, especially this early in the season, just for that reason.

Maysville St. Patrick 62 Ludlow 59
I was at the game...Ludlow has a large team, size wise, very intimidating. St. Pat came back after being down about 15 pts. The officiating could have been better, but neither team seemed to have an advantage in that respect. Ludlow's bench received a technical foul with two seconds on the clock after the Saints scored a basket to take a two point lead, not really sure what that was about. It began as a discussion between the bench and officials and escalated, with the Ludlow coach being called for arguing with the officials. Not sure what started the initial dispute, possibly a time out being called by Ludow after the St. Pat basket with no time outs left. Really not sure, though.

I agree when it comes to the teams, but I think they are in the wrong order.

Does anyone know the admission charge. If I remember right last year it was pretty steep.
