St. Patrick 34 Campbell County 22 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

St Patrick captured the 10th region Freshman title Sunday beating Harrison County in the semi finals 36 -26.

They played a very tough Campbell County team that came from behind to beat Montgomery County in the last minute of the other semi final.

Great Job Saints.......very proud of all you young ladies.

There was a young lady there from Montgomery County #25 I think last name is Taul, she scored most of the points for Montgomery! She is a very talented player and will be great with years to come!! Montgomery County played a good game!

Yes she was very good. They also had some tall players as well, I noticed the bench looks tall but didnt see many play so not sure of the level of talent there.

Should be a fun region for a few years to come a lot of teams seem to have some young talent.

Good to see the Saints win the title. They are a talented team.

The Saints will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come now, it seems. Congrats on the win, they deserve it!

When I have seen them play at different schools they usually start the same players, they have height but not alot of talent on the bench. The Taul#25 girl also plays on their JV squad. Does anyone know if they had a tourney team up there. I would like to know??

No they did not name a Tourney team.

Seemed like the tourney was put together at the last minute I know we didnt have much notice of when we played and didn't even know how many teams were in the tourney or how many games we had to play, even after several attempts to contact those in the know.

It would be nice if they would select an all tourney team. Several girls played really well. It would also be nice to see some stats. I was curious about the Montgomery game.

I also noticed how they (MC) didn't play their bench. They seemed to have a lot of height on their bench.

St Patrick has a deep bench with a lot of talent there.

Here are the stats between the Lady Saints and their opponents from district to region that were on Danny Weddle's sports blog:

Not true. Now it might not have been a focus of some coaching staffs and they had forgotten the layout of the tournament as the season progressed.

But NO ONE IN THE REGION STEPPED UP TO HOST IT. And so Scott Collins of Pendleton County said, well, none of the varsity coaches want to step up and host after Bourbon County had spent about 10 years of doing, than I will host it at Pendleton County. If St. Patrick would like to volunteer to put it together next year, I bet Coach Collins would be glad to pass it on. But considering they didn't volunteer to host it this year, not sure they are interested in it next year.

Layout was determined and distributed to the coaches.

Once the districts had held their districts and that was each district's responsibility and I am sure was pretty hard to pull off with all the bad weather, than the times were set.

It is easy to call someone out on something when no one else in the region wants to do it.

Wow, I SINCERELY HOPE nobody at St. Pat turned down the chance to host this tournament this year. If so, I personally apologize, and I know we could get a group of people together who would be glad to host it anytime in the future.

Of course, if we did host it, people would have to refrain from complaining about how small our gym is, and how supposedly bad it is for other teams to shoot in.

All aside, Pendleton County was very hospitable, and the middle school is a lovely facility.:thumb:

I always liked playing down there. I wasn't fond of inbounding the ball... a little close on the sidelines. I don't think that hosting a girl's Freshman regional would be out of the question.

Thanks for the kind words...

We hosted the 7th & 8th grade conference girls' tournament a couple of years ago, and it seemed to go well enough. The crowd yesterday seemed comparable. I would assume we could gather enough willing volunteers to host another tournament. Like I said before, Pendleton County has lovely school facilities, their people were great. :thumb:
