Outcome may have been different if MCHS had let all their players play

If the Saints 5' 11" freshmen center had been 100% it would have been a totally different game. Relegated to spot duty because of a knee scope in Nov. she's just now knocking the dust off. She is a force in the middle.

I agree with you 100% Jetcat, the great thing about her is she didnt loose her touch. With her in the game it makes for a completely different game. St. Pat also has a pretty deep bench, should be a fun team for a few years to come.

I am new to the 10th region. Is that a common thing for good young players like Douglas at St. Pats to play all three games (fresh, JV and varsity) in a given night?

I think she played in all three games vs. Brossart. She was definately a factor in the varsity game? Why would she also play Freshmen?

Not uncommon for a school the size of St. Patrick. But with that said. I believe that coaches play the fitigue thing to far. Most of these kids could run all day. Especially these kids at St. Patrick.

Coach Douglas does a great job of substituting to keep players fresh, yes Chelsea did play all three but only limited time in freshman game. It helps to have a deep bench where you can play players in all three games.

I am not being critical, but if a good player like Douglas is good enough to play major varsity minutes, why play Freshman? Does her time in the freshman game not take away some time for a less skilled player?

The building you played in was probably the old middle school, not the new one at Sharp Middle School.

I was referring to St. Pat. Never liked playing at old Falmouth HS. Sharp is nice, though.

The freshmen at St. Patrick have been playing two games back to back for the last few of years due to playing up with the grade above them that currently has only one girl that plays ball and in Jr. High only had two girls. With that said, these girls have the conditioning to play two games from start to finish (which several girls did in Jr. High) and not get wore out. In high school it is different because even though numbers are low..... there is a bigger pool of players to put in the game, so the girls get a break now and then so they are playing less now than they were the last couple of years. At St. Pat this year what you see on the varsity bench is all the girls in the high school that want to play ball. I think there are 13 total.

There are eigth graders that play JV and Freshmen but in all fairness the current freshmen class has played freshmen all season and they wanted a chance at the title and to not have them play on the freshmen team their freshmen year would not have been an option for these girls. Plus they have a playing up rule at SPS and if you took the freshmen who play JV and Varsity off the freshmen team that would leave only five eigth graders on the team and they wouldn't have enough to have a team.

Who didnt play and why?

They didnt play #25 Taul, #44 Spence and #3 Colliver- they are JV players according to my records as well, They have alot of JV-V games and used the on the JV side and not on freshman team!!

Did they only move them down to play on the freshman team to play in the freshman tournament? Did they play in any freshman games prior to the tournament, if not that seems a little unfair to the girls that played in the freshman games throughout the year.

As far as playing jv/varsity games, St Pats freshman team with the addition of one sophmore is the jv team and 3 or 4 of those see varsity time.

Yes, I have seen those three girls in a few of their freshman games!! But they do play most of the time with the JV squad Spence and Colliver are 8th grade and the Taul is a freshman!! I think all teams drop players back down at tournament time!! I have seen Bourbon Co do it and I seen Paris do it!! I dont think its fair either!!
