I was trying to find a list of the rosters for the Area Code games. I went to a website and saw recaps of the games, but could not find the rosters of the teams. It sounds like Luke Maile played in it--who is from northern KY? I thought that Basil from Cincy St. X (who is a senior this year) was probably playing in it. I saw that atleast 2 players in the 2011 class that played in it--Bryce Harper from Nevada and Christian Lopes from California.

Herana-Daze Jones went to Indiana and is from Iroquios High school in Louisville, KY. He has played 2 years 2 years in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Any St. X players in the NFL?

First of all, I am happy when teams in Kentucky get national rankings. It helps the whole state. Secondly, I spend some time in Cincy and everyone I speak to about high school sports knows about Trinity and Louisville St. X. I am sure that because Cov Cath and Highlands are so close to Cincy, that that is a factor here; but don't minimized Trinity and Louisville X traveling to Cincy to play. Kentukcy football is improving in leaps and bounds, but also respect and give credit to the quality programs and history of high school football in Cincy.

With the “eephus” pitch getting some notoriety with CAL last year in the 7th region playoffs against Trinity and St. X, it’s mentioned recently with Randy Johnson on the mound. He accidently threw a pitch so slow that it didn’t register on the radar gun in the stadium. A boat’s horn in McCovey Cove in San Francisco accidently distracted Randy Johnson and altered his delivery. The pitch froze the batter, Fred Lewis, and was called a strike. Who would be some of the best Southwest Ohio players?

High school sports has changed a lot over the years. Teams like Cincy St. X are playing more of a national schedule. Trinity and Louisville St. X are traveling more to play top teams in Ohio and Tennesse. Trinity and Lou St. X new stadiums are very nice. Point is, it's great that teams like Trinity and St. X are able to broadcast their games. The FM signal should be better at night.

Smart strategy.

Many believe that Devontae Beach will be doing a lot of blocking for Finch. Beach is a beast. Lamont McMurry and Jay Hayden ran the ball last year but may be seen of the defensive side? Ryan Loehnert is a very capable passer, but is playing behind some experienced upper classmen. Jake Bickel is a talented linebacker. There are others. St. X has a lot of depth. A number of their sophomores would be starting on other team's varsity.

The Cincinnati Flames have 15U tryouts August 9th and 10th. The 14U tryouts are August 10th and 17th. Midland waits until their season is over and will probably have trouts the first part of September.

I heard that St. X is revamping their offense. Still not wanting to throw the ball much, but will instill a new "wishbone" offense. DJ Hall will quarterback, with Deuce, Beach, Jermiah Neal, and others in the backfield.

In the Louisville area in the 6th region, Bullitt East returns most of their team that made it to the 6th region final. PRP is always tough, yet loses 4 highly talented seniors, including Mr. Baseball. In the 7th, Manual returns most of their team including their top 2 pitchers. Eastern returns the number 1 and number 2 pitchers, Dunaway and Toombs. Trinity returns much of their line-up. St. X had a senior driven team and will be challenged to develop their players for next year. Male, too, returns some players. Christian Academy cannot be left out of the discussion any more. Coach Gray and his staff are getting the most from their players.

Travis Foley, Butler, pitched the best high school game that I have seen against PRP in the district. To show how hard it is to make it to the majors, Foley had brief stints in AAA; but never made it to the MLB.

Kal did a great job this year. He is very deserving and is a fine young man. I thought he should have been getting a lot of looks by a lot of schools.

One game match-ups are exciting and interesting. That's what makes high school baseball so great. Apollo may be headed for a championship, but CAL may be a spoiler?

CAL has played to their maximum ability. CAL's coaches have done a terrific job of maximizing their capabilities. CAL was outmatched at almost every position against St. X but found a way to win. CAL is outmatched again and is uncharted water, but they are a cinderella team. Do they have another win left before the clock strikes midnight?

I do not know who will be pitching for PRP. Coach Miller has been known to try to strategically use his pitching. Last year Cox was saved for the final and did not pitch at all. Who will Christian County pitch? What are Christian County strengths?
