That sounds like a great idea. Also a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to play on Great American Ballpark field.

GCL has a huge advantage in this. The size of the schools and the talent is a lot better than anything we could get in NKY. Not saying NKY schools couldn't compete with some of the better teams in the GCL, but the finest in Cincy against our finest I think would be outmatched. If I was to take a random guess I'd say the ratio is about 6-1 in difference of enrollment in the schools.

We'd surely be out matched talent wise. It is teams like St. X, Elder, Moeller etc..

Why should it be of concern now? Maybe because now it adversely affects those bigger schools in No. Ky. that have had the advantages all these years? Gimme a break, play the game, test ourselves.

I agree with bulldog77, play the game and just see what happens, the kids and young men of NKY deserve the opportunity. JD

Sounds like a great idea, though the logistics of timing up this game might be difficult. NKY and Ohio seasons don't end at the exact same time normally and often the top players start their summer seasons almost immediately after high school ball is over and frequently travel out of town every weekend to tournaments. But the concept itself is very appealing. :thumb:

Who would be some of the best Southwest Ohio players?

There is already an East West Allstar game played at UK or Louisville made up of 2 players from each region at the senior level and junior level. Competing against the entire state of Kentucky would be more competitie then just playing Cincinnati schools. Would be fun to watch a high school game at Great American though.

The talent in Cincinnati would be better than the talent in the rest of the state, IMO.

 

There is a lot of quality baseball being played on the other side of the river. As anyone who has played AABC in the NKY area knows.

I disagree. We played AABC for 8 years, 3 of those years we played with one of the better AABC teams in Cincinnati. The homefield was Princeton HS so naturally we had several Princetton kids, as well as kids from Elder, Moeller, LaSalle ect.

 

That's a bit like saying the tallent pool from 8 Cincinnati schools, 120 kids is going to be greater then the tallent pool from 200 State of Kentucky schools, maybe 3000 kids.

 

If I was going to start a team from scratch and I had my choice of looking at 120 kids or 3000 kids I think I would have better odds from the larger pool.

 

Besides playing AABC and watching the 2, 9 inning games with Kentucky's best 38 to 40 players, I don't think there is a school in Cincinnati that could have competed with either the East or West Kentucky All Stars.
