Walton-Verona 2009/2010
It all comes down to guard play. They will have a very solid front court, maybe the best in the region. If the guard play is ok then they could be a very good team.

Gallatin is always a tough out. They will be well coached and like always will plary hard, hard, hard.

Walton-Verona 2009/2010
Walton beat Owen at Walton last year by 5 in mid February, and Walton returns everyone. Walton will be bigger and stronger this year. Don't get me wrong I like Owen's bigs, but their guards are not proven and if they were better than the guards last year why didn't they play. As far as the district it will be a three team race. Walton went 1-1 against both Simon and Grant last year in district play before Grant ended Walton's season in the District tournament. Both Grant and Simon lost key players to graduation. If I'm not mistaken the district is at Walton this season. Colonel - I always respect your opinion and look forward to reading your post on the 8th region. But, til Owen actually starts playing this year I think their guard situation is a mystery.

Walton-Verona 2009/2010
The Bearcats should have a very solid team. Really good size and a proven backcourt. If the post players have improved like I think they have over the summer Walton will make a serious push for the District and All "A" regional crowns. The all "A" is at Walton which should make them the favorites. I'm sure there will be some growing pains with a new coaching staff coming in, but by Christmas this could be a very very good team.

8th Region Rankings
Really?? Have you watched everyone else play? South may win it, but they weren't all that impressive in the regional tournament last year, and granted that was the only time I saw them play. I wouldn't be surprised if one of 5 or 6 teams won it. But beating Simon at Simon will not be easy.

Simon Kenton 2009/2010
If Simon can rebound the ball and defend on the interior they should be a very solid team. Good Coach and postseason experience should make them a tough team to beat come 8th region tournament time.

Owen County 2009/2010
I agree Owen has some talent in the Freshman class - but #5 would start on every team in the region if she went to that school. As stated before - as she goes Owen will go. I do think that the incoming Freshman class will be very important to Owen success this season (I don't know why the coach would not play them, especially if they are better). I would think that the Neeley girl would see a lot of varsity time this year.

Outlook for 8th Region All-A Tourney
Gallatin and Walton in the finals. Walton's Size and depth should get them to the finals. Walton's outstanding 8th grade class are now Freshman which should make a big difference. Last year was a new system and they really started to play well at the end of the year. I think you will see a lot of improvement in the Walton team playing their 2nd year in Coach Miller's system. I like Gallatin's draw on the other side of the bracket. It should be an entertaining tournament with a lot of very competitive games.

8th Region Rankings
I think the region will come down to who is playing their best at the end of the year and who remains injury free. On paper to start the year the region may be a little down. Hopefully by the end of the year a team will step up and represent the 8th well at Diddle. The region will be very young and it should make for some interesting games throughout the year. I know the 32nd district should be a lot more interesting this year. Simon still may have the best 3 guard lineup in the region with Stephenson, Wainscott and Ponzer, but Walton is closing the gap - especially on the inside. Williamstown and Grant both play hard and Wilhoit from Williamstown is one of the better players in region. Good luck to everyone.

Walton Verona 46 Trimble County 30
Walton has been playing pretty good defense all year. Scoring sometimes can be a problem. I'm sorry I don't know which Trimble County player Mitchell is. But, things you can always count on from Trimble are playing hard and being well coached. After being down 17-2 at the end of the 1st quarter I thought the Trimble kids dug down and played hard. Walton seems to be improving with each game. Walton has lost 5 games by 4 points or less. So a stop here and a basket there they could be 9-2. Of course that is wishful thinking on my part, the reality is they are 4-7, but improving.

Walton-Verona 2008-09
They look like a young team with a new coach. They should be fine, but it is going to take time.

She has been a welcome addition to the Walton program. The sky is the limit for Courtney.

Walton-Verona 2008-09
I'm not sure, but is there exceptions for kids living in Walton (Boone County) attending school in the Boone system? I know many kids that have attended school in the Boone system while living in the Walton District. I'm one of them, and my parents never paid tuition.

Yes she was a teacher.

New Coach at Walton-Verona
I think the administration has a couple of good candidates. An announcement can not be made until the job has been posted for 30 days, but I feel the next coach at Walton will be either Cory Miller or Dan Trame. And if Walton is real lucky - both.

Simon Kenton 48 Anderson Co. 44
They lost to Dixie is the semi finals and then Dixie beat Notre Dame in the finals.

Simon Kenton 65 Walton 50 (32 district finals)
You must of watched a different game than I did. The game was still in doubt with 3 minutes to go in the 4th. Congrats to Simon on the win, they played really well in the 2nd half.
