Congrats to SK. Any stats?

Don't have the stats, but I do know who SK placed on the all touranment team.

Ponzer, Maegley, and Dressman.

You must have seen a different game than i did. Walton lead at the half and was down 4 with 3 minutes left in the game. I wouldn't exactly call that "dominates". Walton made the first basket of the 3rd quarter to go up by 4 and then Simon ran off 10 straight to go up 6 before WV called a time out. Congrats to Simon on a district championship and a good win but dominate would not be a word i would use to describe this game.

You must of watched a different game than I did. The game was still in doubt with 3 minutes to go in the 4th. Congrats to Simon on the win, they played really well in the 2nd half.

The band drowned out the scoring leaders when the PA announcer gave the stats but I think Maegley had 18, Barnes 16 and Dressman (Tourney MVP) had 13. If there was a rebound to be had tonight- he went and got it. Very impressive game for him.

Both teams came out firing as they traded baskets to start, but Walton’s Josh Jones and Scott Kirk started a 5 point run for the Bearcats to put them up 11-6, but a three pointer by Simon Kenton’s Casey Sorrell tied the game with 2:45 to go in the first. Josh Jones paced all scorers in the first with 8 points as Walton-Verona took a 16-13 lead as the quarter ended.

Simon Kenton came out of the time out firing as with a 4 point run, they were able to re-take the lead at 17-16 at the 7:00 mark. The lead traded teams back and forth for the quarter. Walton took a 4 point lead at one point but Simon made it a 2 point game at the half. Walton led 33-31.

Simon started the 3rd just like the second going on a 8-2 run taking a 39-35 lead with 4:33 to go in the quarter. The Pioneers went to a 2-3 zone defense in the 3rd. The Pioneers outscored the Bearcats 12-4 in the quarter, and took a 43-37 lead into the final quarter.

Simon Kenton extended their lead to a game high 7 points half way through the final quarter. Walton preceeded to go on a 4 point run to draw within 3 points a minute later. The Pioneers came back with 4 points of their own with 2:20 to go to push the lead back to 7 points. 6 straight free throws extended the lead to 13 with under a minute to go. A bucket underneath capped off the game for the Simon Kenton Pioneers for a 15 point win, 65-50.

Congrats Sk. Good game. Walton played hard, but just couldn't get it done. Good job to all players, good luck in Regionals!

Good Job Walton, keep your heads up!

Congrats to SK and WV for an exciting final. SK now gets a more favorable draw in the Regional and WV will have the tough road. Best of luck to both teams.

Walton just couldn't keep up down the stretch. I was really disappointed to see Ponzers actions on the bench with about a minute to go. Laughing and sitting there with his arms crossed. Not sure what the whole ordeal was about or why he was pulled with a minute to go, but regardless, sad to see him act like that kind of teammate.

Congrats to Sk and Coach Steiner, good luck next week!

Some people react differently to defeat than what others do but his reaction had to do more than the defeat if you watched & heard what was said from the coach. That type of behavior from a coach should never be tolerated and I was totally shocked that it took place. You have to give Ponzer credit for being talented and able to lead his team to a tie for 1st place in the district and a berth in the regional tournament next week. Something your Walton team was not able to do.

What year are the kids from Simon? Dressman, Maegley, Ponzer, Barnes? etc.
