Jesse James Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Walton-Verona comes off a 15-14 record. What must they do to contend in the 8th region?
CatPride24 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Knowing that the new coaching staff is chomping at the bit to get in the gym with these girls I think that they will come along quite quickly over the summer. Don't get me wrong, I know they are very young and lost a boat-load of talent this year, but I think they will do better than most people think in 2008-2009. Re-establishing the high level of committment necessary to play the game at a high level should be their number one priority. Lots and lots of time in the gym this summer as the coaches get to know the players and the players get to know the coaches will be key as well.
Lunatic1 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think they will have a re-buildling year and it may take a while for the girls to adjust to the new coaches. It will be strange to see WV without the names that we are used to every year so it may be more difficult for their competition to prepare. I wish them luck and patience.
1734 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think it will depend on how the parents accept the new coaches and the decisions that they make for the team. Dixon will be a force, but from there, where will the consistant scoring come from? They have the makings to be pretty good late in the season.
madman Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 IMO, the Lady Cats won't be a contender for the 8th Region for a few years. They are extremely young and inexperienced. They may possibly contend for the All A in a short time depending on the draw but that is still a long-shot. They have a very good coaching staff but I think it will take a couple of years for them to get the girls to buy into their system and for the girls to mature and get stronger. Additionally, the parents will have to support the coaches and their decisions if this is going to be a successful program in a few years. There's alot of potential with the underclassmen but it will also take alot of work and dedication on their part for the program to be successful. I think there's a good foundation (good coaches and young talented players), it's just a matter of whether or not they can build a quality program. They (coaches, players, parents, administration) have to be on the same page and have to have the same goals and expectations. Give it a few years and WV may have something special. It's a work in progress!

It should not matter how the parents accept the new coaches, and if it does they should move on! That is the parents should move on!:ylsuper::ylsuper:
Hamilton Joe Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 They have about a half dozen or more former head coaches and assistant coaches at Walton so I would think they could all get their heads together and get the program headed in the right direction to satisfy everyone.....maybe....

Key word "maybe" and that is stretching it! :scared:
CatPride24 Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 GatorFan, your WV hating is getting old. It amazes me how everyone else can see the potential there, but you are unwilling to accept it. Everyone seems to agree that the coaches and talent could combine for something special, the question is just if it will be next year or down the road. Unless you think that the talent at your school will be too much for the Ladycats.
Jesse James Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 This thread better stay on subject or there will be repercussions.
GatorFan Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 They do have a nice group of young ladies coming up through the system and I hope they do well! I am just talking about all of the parents that were on here last season complaining about the coaches. Good luck WV.
