Boone Co rule?? I am confused. Bottom line is that the family must live in the Ryle School Dist to attend that school. It doesn't matter what the KHSAA says. If she lives in WV dist, that is where she has to go. Ryle does not accept tuition students. If they live on the so-called border, what school dist does she actually live in then? Obviously, it is the WV Dist since that is where she has been going.

Straight from the Ryle office: You MUST live in the Ryle district to attend Ryle. Exceptions: Rare. You can write a letter appealing that but its "very rare" for it to be granted. The only way around it I would see is if one of the parents would work for the Boone County School system.

Very, very rare and since it involves an athlete and being eligible, not going to happen. My question then is a para-professional coach included as a so-called "employee?" I don't think it does but I have been wrong before. I still think in this situation, the family must move into the school dist in order to be eligible to play since they do not accept tuition and she is out of the dist.

The Para-professional issue is interesting. On the one hand, they could say that , yes, they are in the system but that could also lead to people questioning the whole para-professional concept. If my 6'9 son wants to go to Ryle but I live in Hebron, am I suddenly deemed worthy of an assistant coaching position at Ryle?

Any guess of how many out of district para-professional coaches will be hired throughout the State in order to allow their athletes to switch schools without moving? if this happens a "huge" can of worms will be opened...

Most schools accept tuition students, so it is not an issue. The KHSAA does not care where she lives as long as she is enrolled in the school. She is an incoming freshmen so the question of eligibility is not an issue. Her playing at Ryle is only a question of if Ryle will let her enroll in their school. I do not see why any school would turn down a good student who is willing to pay to come to their school unless they are overcrowded. With the addition of Cooper High School, Ryle is no longer overcrowded and may be accepting out of district tuition students.

Do you really think her parents would not have checked this out before they burned their bridges at WV. She is already playing with Ryle this summer. I am sure they have either been accepted as tuition student or are accepted because he is an employee of the school (even though as a paraprofessional).

 

But back to the thread topic. WV's post players are looking very very good this summer.

You say that they won't rule on this until Sept/Oct. Venture over into the boys forum and read up on the Euton/Jackson transfers from Rose Hill to Scott Co. Both were ruled ineligible this week.

 

Is this even a KHSAA issue, though, since as a freshman she had not yet established eligibility?

I'm aware of a couple of "potential" transfers for the girl's and I'm pretty sure they were told the KHSAA is focused on Soccer, FB, & VB right now and it may be Sept/Oct before they will have the opportunity to review the documentation and make a ruling. Supposedly they can particpate with the team until Oct 15th if a ruling has not been made. After the 15th, they must stop until a ruling is made.

 

I wonder if they ruled on the boy's side because it was such a high-profile transfer. Also, isn't Euton's Mom an employee as well? not sure...just curious.

I think there are about 20 threads going on over there, each with about 1000 posts that will fill you in. :lol: Seriously, there may be a focus, but it wouldn't take that long to make a decision.
