Heard from a reliable source that Cheesman has transferred to Ryle. IMO, I don't think this is a smart move on her part because she probably won't see alot of playing time. Definitely not the PT that she would have seen at WV.

 

Who will handle the point guard duties now? Could a transfer in be looming?

Saw Cheeseman playing with Ryle at camp this weekend and the team looked good. She will probably see some playing time. Not as much as she would have a WV but she is still a very good guard. THere are just more of them at Ryle.

 

WV will still have Ginn and hopefully some of their other girls will develop this summer.

She handles the ball well, and passes well, but overall I do not see this as a good move on her part. She is a bit fragile and often hurt in games and that was before she made the scouting reports of opponents.

 

Did they move, or did she just transfer. I know that her dad is a coach for Ryle and that she is only going to be a freshmen so no KHSAA rules to worry about. Just wondering if it will be an option to transfer back when things do not go well there. (and would she be welcome back at WV?)

She did get alot of varsity minutes (actually started several games) last year, but she was only an 8th grader so she can transfer without having to sit out a year.

I have heard the rumored transfer is a lock! The girl can play IF it happens.

If the transfer does happen, that will be 2 in the last 2 years from the same AAU team that is coached by a Walton parent. Wonder if the KHSAA will start investigating the situation.

Not suprised that Cheeseman would go to Ryle with her Dad. Being together with family maybe more important than varsity playing time as a freshman to some. Father and daughter wouldn't see much of each other if they were with different programs.

I also saw her play at Louisville and she played well. I think the move may be good for her because she will be playing against harder competition on a daily basis. In talking with her, she's OK with the possiblity of not playing as much varsity as a 9th grader but looks at the bigger picture for the years to come. She also didn't look very fragile because she is getting more mature and definitely more aggressive. I believe the Ryle team will definitely be fun to watch in the future.
