Walton-Verona 2008-09

Featured Replies

The coach of the AAU team can talk to any of his players about attending Walton. He has no affiliation with the school and therefore the KHSAA has no power to do anything to the Walton program.

Tiger 1, you might want to check out Bylaw 10. Recruiting is not allowed

by a peer, parent, coach, etc. If I am not mistaken this coach mentioned

has a direct affiliation with school when he is coaching middle school

basketball for Walton Verona. So no he can not talk to any of his players

about attending Walton Verona.

You might be right about Bylaw 10, but I never used the word recruiting.

I will leave it at that.

You said he was allowed to talk to any of his players about attending Walton

Verona and my point is Bylaw 10 defines that as recruiting whether

he is only a parent as you first stated or a coach in Walton's middle school

program. Do not know if this person has done this but before you make such a strong statement you need to know the rules.

As I stated before, he is not recruiting kids.

If the transfer does happen, that will be 2 in the last 2 years from the same AAU team that is coached by a Walton parent. Wonder if the KHSAA will start investigating the situation.

Tiger 1, in addition to the PG rumored to be coming to Walton now you are aware of the girl that in your description can shoot it from anywhere. One transfered in last year and two more possibly this year and all are from different schools but on the same AAU team. Maybe just a coincidence. You are the one that implied that this coach was allowed to talk to his players and that the KHSAA could do NOTHING to the Walton program.

Shoudn't you be asking what AAU team with a coach who has a daughter who will attend Walton Verona. This is an easy one!

Don't you think if these girls were coming to Walton they would of attended basketball camp and open gym. Maybe even attended team camp. Like I said before you are only starting rumors.

Not starting the Walton transfer rumors just responding to them and the ignorance of some in regard to rules. Girls in question could not attend

team camp or organized summer practices with high school coaches until

officially enrolled in Walton Verona Schools. Again, some need to know

the rules before we speak.

So, what grade will these transfers be in? Are they high school age or middle school age, and will they have to set out a year, or are their parents moving to Walton Verona School District. I think it is great to see that a smaller school like Walton Verona has so many people interested in and supporting their girls basketball program.

BGP Rule #4: No school-specific (or general) recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, player or booster are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.
