Sorry TBG...no interest in the boy's :)

Just hope they made 100% sure before burning bridges. I'm just saying...if the door is opened in the county of Boone for tuition students...look out!

If Ryle would accept her, and since she is an incoming freshmen, then she becomes eligible immediately and would not involve the KHSAA.

You can live in one school district and go to school in another district and play sports. It happens all the time.

No problem. I just wanted to give this as an example. Again, I don't even think that this is a KHSAA issue.

I'm not familiar enough with the Bylaw's to comment with confidence; however, if this young lady played varsity last season don't be surprised if the KHSAA intervenes. I am familiar with an instance where an 8th grader actually moved and had to wait on a ruling for athletic eligibility.

It does happen all the time, but I have not heard of one instance where a kid was accepted as a tuition student in the Boone County system...BUT there may be.

I am not 100% positive but I believe that where they live is considered Ryle district. One side of the Road is Walton and one side is Ryle. Maybe??

Well if they are in Ryle's district then no reason to be concerned about eligibility or paying tuition. All this talk was for nothing ;)

They live in WV school dist, why do you think she attended WV in the first place? As for someone saying playing out of district, yes, but the school they are playing for accepts tuition students. In this situation, Ryle(the entire Boone School System) does not accept any tuition students. Simple explanation, they have to move!

The KHSAA does not have anything to do w/this unless Ryle does accept tuition for this student. Also, if Boone as a school district has changed their policy's, which I doubt, then she could play and pay tuition. Tuition is not accepted by any Boone school.

I'm not sure, but is there exceptions for kids living in Walton (Boone County) attending school in the Boone system? I know many kids that have attended school in the Boone system while living in the Walton District. I'm one of them, and my parents never paid tuition.

I know that there are no exceptions for kids living in the Walton Verona school district even though it's in Boone County. You have to attend whatever school district you are in unless you pay tuition.

Do you really think her parents would not have checked this out before they burned their bridges at WV. She is already playing with Ryle this summer. I am sure they have either been accepted as tuition student or are accepted because he is an employee of the school (even though as a paraprofessional).

But back to the thread topic. WV's post players are looking very very good this summer.

How is the Sandlin girl from Williamstown playing? I heard she may possibly return to Williamstown in 2008-2009. She would be a huge addition to the Lady Demons. CP24, have you heard anything?

This is how rumors get started.

That is exactly what it is. A rumor!!!! She absolutely loves Walton Verona. She does miss her friends and teachers, but keeps in touch with them by phone or church.

She is playing well and attending some post camps this summer (always room for improvement). She has excelled academically, played great in the softball season (2 homeruns and caught Varsity as a 7th grader) and is looking forward to the basketball season.

That is good to hear. Courtney is a great kid and a really good athlete. I wish her success this year (unless she is playing the Lady Demons)!!!

She has been a welcome addition to the Walton program. The sky is the limit for Courtney.

I spoke directly to a Boone employee about this yesterday. Their reply was she had heard of this happening but all those kids in question attended BOONE CO H.S. ONLY. I do know for a fact that no school in the Boone system accepts tuition under any circumstances and a para-professional does not constitute being an employee of the school. W/all this said, bottom line, the family in question should have to move in order to be eligible to play at Ryle since she technically lives in the WV district.

This will be interesting to follow as it gets closer to school starting.:thumb:
