What's the most famous (or infamous) Highlands vs. Cov Cath game?
I believe the RB that started over Alexander hurt his leg in PE. That’s the story that is in his book at least.

2023-2024 Football Realignment
The Scott Co and Great Crossing numbers I got from Coach McKee. They believe they will fall about smack in the middle of 5A. The way teams are currently broken into classes can be pretty brutal for some schools. Like was mentioned before in 5A there could be a pretty big gap between the top and bottom of the class. Being on the lower enrollment side and then getting thrown into a district with teams on the higher end can be really difficult.

2023-2024 Football Realignment
It’s not as hard to schedule as one might think. Also the new field for Scott Co should be ready in the not so distance future. The numbers I’ve heard from Scott Co is Great Crossing is around 2k students and Scott Co is around 1100. That puts Scott Co in the typical bubble spot of 5A close to the bottom of enrollment. That district could look very different next cycle. Great Crossing: expected to move up Fredrick Douglas: expected to move up Scott Co: expected to stay MoCo: will stay 5A Grant Co: expected to move down to 4A Douglas could be interesting because they could be on the bubble of 5A/6A.

Is Godzilla dead?
To be fair on that the list of guys that can replace Coverdale without a drop off is pretty small. Granted he has been gone I believe two seasons but one doesn’t simply replace Coverdale.

It looks like they were supposed to play Collins.

2023-2026 Football Realignment Timeline
It’s tough to use the last alignment numbers. For example there are teams that teams currently in 4A that have larger male enrollments than those in 5A. In fact there are some 5A schools that going off currently enrollment 25% of 4A has larger male enrollments.

Just for general information for those that don’t know how the enrollment numbers will be determined for classification. (19/20 + 21/22x2)\3= enrollment average used.

2023-2026 Football Realignment Timeline
An average make enrollment of around 550 will probably put Cov Cath on the bubble of 4A/5A. Being the 8th smallest 5A team typically puts a team too far into the class to move down without a lot of other pieces moving. In previous years the top and bottom 4 of a class have the best chance of moving. Because the KHSAA keeps classes in a set number basically it can cause some really tough cuts in class. Meaning you can have a school that is pretty close to the top of one class enrollment wise (a difference of maybe 20 or less make students) get thrown into a class where now they play against teams with 50-100 male enrollment difference just in their district.

2023-2026 Football Realignment Timeline
There is kind of a cascade effect that can happen. For example, if both Highlands and Cov Cath moved down then it basically forces two teams to move up. If Great Crossing and Douglas moves up to 6A then two previous 6A teams would move down. So there is a degree of shuffling that happens once the top and bottom enrollment 32 happen. Then add in teams asking to play up or down due to factors. In the end it’s the teams on the upper and lower cusp that would move. Some districts grew during Covid and some took a pretty good hit enrollment wise. Since enrollment numbers got jacked up during Covid they are using a formula to determine enrollment that is different than in the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a little bit larger number of requests to move classes due to districts saying the enrollment numbers aren’t accurate based on the formula.

I believe there was an email that went out that said November there would be a draft/breakdown of classes. Then January the district draft would come out. From there I believe schools can petition to move.

Lloyd 39 Montgomery County 12
I agree. I wasn’t there so I honestly cannot comment either way on this years game. As far as throwing the ball deep when you’re up big that can be a little more complex. On that one fans and coaches can get a little worked up over. MoCo is getting ready to go through 2-3 pretty brutal games.

Maybe. I never saw anything like that with Coach Egli. I know when teams are having a rough year sometimes players and at times coaches don’t handle it well. It’s hard to know without being with a program throughout the week.

Beechwood 37 Dixie 14
Like was stated before this is the same offense and style they used for a number of years before coming to Dixie. The offense takes a good year for it to start clicking. Even once they players truly get it it will look clunky at times. It’s just how the offense works. Kind of think of it as a coach coming in and installing the triple option. There is a larger learning curve to it.

Different coaching staff between last year and this year.

Newport Central Catholic 40 Walton-Verona 21
Am I looking at the stats wrong or are they way off. It shows Walton only running three plays. So either I’m not hitting the correct button or the stats are only really for NCC offense.

Frederick Douglass: Fools Gold or Gold?
They do play guys both ways. Not a lot but there are always a few that do. Could they play more both ways? Sure but being two platoon is more likely a better return on investment.

The 10 yard to 10 yard line thing was for sure and it appears will be the norm now. For a very large amount of the state having 80+ on the sideline isn’t an issue. It was just how Tackett phrased it during the rules clinic that made it appear it might of been still in effect.
-
Trinity being sued by WLKY sports director Fred Cowgill
Does anyone know if the roster restrictions were still in effect last season? Tackett made it sound as if they were in this years rules clinic because it sounded like those restrictions had been lifted for this season. If it was in effect it was something like a restriction of 80 dressed players.

Trinity being sued by WLKY sports director Fred Cowgill
Between the two teams filming (and with multiple angles) and the NFHS network film of it there had to be good footage/angles. Completely agree very stupid to think there aren’t multiple good views of what happened. On top of all of that the film would show the sideline conditions.

Cats Pause District-By-District Team Standings Predictions
I know that for at least some districts (like mentioned above) an email is sent out to the coaches to vote. Like any other time you email coaches you might get everyone in the district to respond or you might get one. Keep that in mind when you look at the rankings.
