I tell you what. I feel like the 16th region is often overlooked for talent because there is a lot of mountain schools. I feel like there is about 20 kids fresh-senior who can, if they wanted to, go on and fill some college rosters be it big or little schools. I feel that there is some talent in the mountains. Congrats to all the kids in the 16th not getting props for their efforts. Keep working hard young men.

Hey fridaymorning. I like the question, it gets people thinking a little. I think there is a line that can be crossed. I like to condition kids with balls in their hands. They can run and still touch a ball. As far as punishment their definitely is a line. I feel like the game has changed and it is a different time for young kids.

I bet it was one worth watching. I love a good close game, makes it interesting for the fans.

Wow, Rockpride! I am not so sure that you are on the same page with everyone else in here. Ky always has been and always will be a basketball state. Nothing will EVER change that. But about the football thing; As kids become bigger,faster,stronger and more "populous" as you say sports that allow more players on the field at a time is becoming more popular, not necessarily football as a sport. Take a school of 1500 students for example, you can still only play 5 at a time, however, football and soccer are now more appealing than ever because you can play in theory 30+ kids or more or soccer 15-20. But in basketball you might play 8 maybe 10 if you are blowing out. It becomes more of a fan favorite due to this reason. Yes the talent might be improving some, better coaches, more interest. But I can guarantee you that powerhouse football teams around the country are not knocking down doors in ky trying to load its teams with ky boys. On the flip side, good basketball programs have and will continue to show up at rupp for the boys sweet 16 because IT full of talent. IMO

Frances, The coaches of the 16th all A schools met yesterday to discuss the All A tournament Structure. I beleive that the officials selection was Sunday afternoon for the entire 16th region.

The vote was held yesterday I beleive (Sunday). There was an all A meeting today. Each teams were represented with the exception of Elliott who I am sure was prepping for the tournament. Hard to get people to show up to a vote on a weekend.

Hope ferg heals and is able to play at 100% his next time on the floor. As for the northern ky. poster ("is he good"), no he isnt we just talk about every teams 3rd player off of the bench spraining an ankle. Yes he is good, he is a super player, hence therefore we post about him and his status of his injury.

There is no doubt talent in ky and quite a bit of D1 talent, however, I do not think that in the state of ky right now there is maybe 2 that could come to ky and produce. All this in relation to size, strength, SPEED, and other factors. The SEC is a faster league probably any other in the country. I even feel like lofton struggles with the speed difference. The one thing that allows him to penetrate the lane as well he does is the fact that he can shoot the ball from 27 ft in and will have to be guarded from that distance. I agree with you that kids from kentucky will play harder in uk blue than will someone from california but playing hard will not make up for the difference in size, strength, speed. I think tubby and the guys know that so they recruit those three things and not heart.

I hate to hear about ferg's leg. I saw paintsville play in the prep classic and they gave south laurel (I believe it was s. laurel) all they could handle. Paintsville plays really, really hard. But then again so does the Lions. Should be a really good up and down game!
