Hoopsrbest, I love the class system, I had that in high school. It is a great setup. We took the final four teams in your class (say 4A) to the state tournament.

Nothing in the world wrong with being reserved. In fact, I am not even questioning his moral fiber as a man, because I dont know him. I do however know him to be not personable. Not personable- not saying not likeable, lovable, caring, or any of that. Just simply not personable and in coaching, it helps to be personable. That was the statement.

I start by saying: go seed. It is no doubt the best way to reward the kids for winning during the regular season. Make the kids play in January and February. But, put yourself in the shoes of the schools who know that they just cannot make it, and for the kids, small weak schools will always draw. After all, the kids are why coaches and AD's do what they do. To fix it all, force the state to go to all teams seed. Put the monkey on their back.

I dont expect people to stop and talk about the weather, stock market, and the price of the eggs in china each time I say hello to you but when a man says hello to me, I typically say: good morning, hello, how the heck are you or something to that effect. In the business that he is in, personal skills can help a bunch. Remember, I take nothing from his ability to motivate, teach, inspire, all of that. He has a very well coached, disciplined team, I just dont think that he is very personable.

You can never write off rowan. I believe them to be one of the more solid teams in the region. Their post game hurts them. They have plenty of guard strength.

I agree. Either way, the 16th will send two very qualiity programs to the region and the 64th teams should not meet until the finals.

Yeah. He has two sons playing. One plays jv/v and of course Matt is strictly Varsity. The young kid is talented as well but is a much different talent. Smaller, quicker, etc.

Very intense team. Not a very personable guy however. Very good basketball team.

What kind of size and strength do they have. Montgomery has three really talented big men. Rash is such an unselfish player, he is a true joy to watch. Utterback can fill it up on any given night. and of course they play hard defense.

I am not so sure that you can STOP any of those four teams. They may have to knock each other off. Once you get about 6 teams deep in the 16th region, the talent level drops considerably. The real question might be, how do each of those schools plan to stop each other and not how does a Bath, Lewis, etc. stop them. You guys may not believe it but I think that Russell and Ashland are the two teams to watch for. Russell obviously becuase they are inherently good and Ashland because there is much room for them to improve and they are still "leading the pack" so to say. They are my pick to win it all. About rex and his staff. I think that coaches by nature are winners. Sure we would all love to win in March, but very few coaches I know are willing to sacrifice wins now for wins in March. The thought there, win when you can, get better everyday and you will win in March because you have improved.

You cannot sleep on Montgomery Co. I dont care if they did lose to Clark by three. Coming off of a big win in the Berea Tournament. They are a good team. Mason vs. Montgomery, final 65-60 mason.

For the most part stripedshirt, I do not feel that fans complain about calls based on rules. They grieve over calls made by poor judgement. As a coach I tend to judge a good official by a few things but the main thing I try to consider for judgement is this: Did he/she make the obvious calls and can I even remember him/her making any calls at all. If a game is called well, then I should not even be able to tell if a particular official was at the game. I personally believe that officials are well intentioned but for some, they just dont get IT. Dont understand flow of the game, emotion, etc. That comes from playing and playing at a high level, which I suspect that a large majority of officials did not come from that background

Russellrooter, I cannot agree with you more. I think that the 16th region officials are some of the weakest officials I have ever seen. As a coach, I played a game in the 10th region the other day. My big man got two offensive calls on him. The first was obvious and the 2nd was very suspect. The ref saw the anger on my face came over and told me, "coach he dipped his shoulder, I had a good angle". OK, I said. How do you argue with a guy who had absolute confidence in his ability as an official. In the 16th, you get no interaction as a coach with officials. The only thing you get from them is, Im calling the game coach you just coach. That is garbage. The BBA has some of the best officials in the state in my opinion.

Come on LSU Rock. Surely you have to be more financially savy than that. I have some stock in a company down there who advertises now with Hoover and ESPN souly because of the show. I highly doubt coach Propst just welcomes any and everybody to use his now highly recognized national football powerhouse team as free advertisement. It is not the contract dollars that make that much of a difference. It is the advertising dollars, promotions, now Two a days is available on DVD (should net more than that 21,000 you are talking) i would imagine royalities come out of that. Think big picture. Those facilities you see on tv were not bought with 21,000

I am from Alabama and played quarterback for a state powerhouse program. Only private (academies, prep schools, etc.) were allowed to recruit but they competed for a different state championship. On the Hoover topic, Hoover is a unique place. It is nestled on the outskirts of Birmingham Alabama and is a community catered to doctor's and lawyer's kids and of course the kids who are talented enough to make them great. Football in Alabama is very similar to the way basketball is viewed in this state. It is King! Somebody brought up the issue of teaching? Look at it like this. Schools no matter how big or small are businesses. If you are coaching at Hoover High school and you are bringing millions of dollars from ESPN and very wealthy boosters and ultimately it is improving the facilities (both academic and athletic) for your kids. Who cares if you teach social studies. Hello Pete, find the best book worm you can to teach that and you teach the game that you coach so well and continue to make deposits at the bank!

How about the Daleville H.S. -Warhawks (pretty good i thought)

Bracken was able to keep it respectable. It wound up being 67-51 Montgomery County. Montgomery County shot the ball well. Coach Rison's guys sure do play hard around the basket.
