To me, having Chambers 15th (and Cline unranked) is an outrage. Chambers has nearly 2,500 points for her career and in the seven-county area last season, averaged far and away the most points per game. Cline last season was tops in assist by a wide margin and is on fire thus far this year, averaging around 25 ppg. To go along with my point, in the entire article of Miss Basketball contenders in the Cats' Pause this year, if I'm not mistaken (it's not in front of me right now), Chambers was an afterthought, listed in the last two or three paragraphs as a contender from "Northern Kentucky." Last time I checked, NKY is the 9th region. If that's not a slight to her "pub," I don't know what is.

I may have said that in the past, but this St. Pat crew is up and coming and will pull many more "upsets" (in the mind of the general statewide public, not mine) this year. This is a very talented squad with a great coach and attitude. I'm not surprised by Saturday's result.

I can't justify picking a whole team from across the state, but I agree with URIT for the four above mentioned from the 10th region. Chambers and Cline especially get no pub statewide, which is a crying shame.

They took their varsity team. It just so happens at this point in the season that consists of: four seniors, five juniors and one sophomore. Not to say that won't change come tourney time, and that is taking into account the three upperclassmen that have left the team since the season started. It wasn't a matter of only taking so many players, it was the fact that this is how the varsity team has dressed out thus far this year.

Fleming has a very talented and young team, and if they hadn't dug themselves an 18-2 hole last night, MC might've been in trouble. Last night, they started two seniors, a sophomore, a freshman and an 8th grader, and the first ones coming off the bench included another 8th grader. Danyale Allex played a tough game on the blocks, bullying her way inside by lowering her shoulder and driving to the basket. 25 points on a very good percentage, I'm sure. Give credit to the Mason starters for keeping the lead out far enough so as to not give Fleming the momentum they needed to get over the hump. But if I'm in the 16th region late this season, I'm looking out for the Lady Panthers.

Agreed! Knowing Lacey, she would trade in all of those individual things to go to Diddle. Nonetheless, a great accomplishment and well-deserved stoppage of the game for #32. They oughta keep track of her floor burns too, that's gotta be closer to 3,000 for her career!

Yeah, if you check out their team picture this year (which by the way, has a very impressive back line...10 guys, none of them shorter than 6-2...looks like a college team!), Trevor stands justthismuch above Darius. Trevor's younger brother, Treg, is just below the two of them. And he's still a freshman yet! To answer an earlier post, I don't believe the elder Setty shoots too much. That is to say, he doesn't generally force shots, he usually only lets fly when he's open or the play is designed for him.

This kid deserves everything he gets. Hard worker and very unselfish. I don't know from personal experience, but I would think it may be hard to be in a teammate's shadow all the time...but Trevor almost seems to be better because of it. Probably doesn't hurt that I believe they're great friends, but I digress. Congratulations Trevor, I know there will be many more offers to come this season if you keep it up!

Good game on both sides. I think the key was Coach Kelsch and the Panthers switching to a zone, and unfortunately for Bracken, losing a bit of their touch around the arc. Like someone said before, Jo Jo Gray was a big sparkplug coming off the bench for Augusta. Big three-pointer and a couple of steals. Shooty Staggs was a beast on the offensive glass and Chris Mofford showed a lot of touch around the basket. For Bracken, they opened up a good lead in the first half and the size disadvantage finally caught up to them in the third quarter. Good shooting night from Workman and Trev Jefferson, and though he rarely shows up in the box score, a great all-around floor game from Alex Williams. He may be one of the best on-ball defenders in the region, but will probably (unfortunately) never get the credit. Coach Fite has a very, very good young team. They're going to take their lumps but will eventually be (at the very least) a region All-A contender. Good rivalry atmosphere for a great cause. It was neat to see all the pink in the crowd rather than the blue vs. the orange, but the crowd was still very much into it. Big win for the Panthers, and nothing to hang your heads for, Bracken. I look forward to the rematch on Feb. 8 at the Panthers' Den!

I will be most happy to talk about Coach Kelsch and not some silly rumor. Professionally, and this is with all due respect to all of the local coaches, Robin is definitely one of the best to work with. You feel like he is genuinely giving you his time, and win or lose, he's always looking for you to speak after games, not the other way around. Sometimes (and I won't name names) coaches act like it's a hassle to work with the media. For Coach Kelsch, this was always furthest from the truth. Augusta has a true diamond in the rough, I liken him a lot to Coach Ormes, formerly at St. Pat. Just like what I felt like at St. Pat, I don't think Augusta could ever find anyone more loyal, more dedicated to his players than Robin. Personally speaking, I made sure to seek out Robin after last night's game with Bracken if for no other reason than to congratulate him. Like I was saying, I watched him seek out Matt, the Ledger reporter, but even if they had lost by 20, he'd have been doing the same thing. He's a great coach and an even greater person (man, I feel like I'm writing his eulogy), and like the first post said on this thread, the most underrated coach in the region.

Treg Setty is listed at 6-5, and if you look at the team picture, comparing him to both his brother and Darius Miller, that's probably not an exaggeration. Neal is, as you say, 6-2. But considering they're both freshman, they're probably still growing.

He may not get much pub outside the Maysville area, but Chris Owens of St. Pat is one of the most underrated players in the state. 24.2 points and 7.5 rebounds and shoots well everywhere (55.3 from the field, 35.4 from behind the arc).

Lewis County senior wide receiver J.T. Britt caught 19 passes in tonight's 55-6 win over Bracken County. According to the KHSAA, Franklin-Simpson's Patrick West also caught 19 passes in a game, in 2002. However, these records have not been updated since the beginning of this season. Unless someone has topped him this year, Britt is now the co-record holder for receptions in a game. Congratulations!
