Lady Royals got an early 18-2 lead. FC kept the game close for all 4 quarters.

The score was alot closer than what it says.

Congratulations to Lacey Cline on a great personal accomplishment, 2000 points is a very hard goal to reach. Couldn't have happened to a better young lady.

 

On the game, nice win for the Lady Royals this was a little tougher task tonight beating a Scrappy, physical, Fleming Co. team. Looks like the Lady Royals have the train rollin right now.

This was a closer match than I expected.

I heard it was the 1000th point for D. Alex as well....congrats to both!

I am suprised that Fleming is 1-4. I went back and checked and they were #9 in the 16th Region in the CJ coaches poll. Have they just played really tough teams or are they just not that strong?

Three of the four losses have come to quality opponents in the 16th region. They have been competitive in all three of those region defeats, losing to Russell, Ashland which was rated 3rd in the preseason and East Carter which was preseason #1 in the 16th. Fleming County is not overly talented, but they play hard, they are physical, they scrap and they play within themselves and those are all qualities that you have to have to stay in ballgames. The record is a little deceiving.

Fleming has a very talented and young team, and if they hadn't dug themselves an 18-2 hole last night, MC might've been in trouble. Last night, they started two seniors, a sophomore, a freshman and an 8th grader, and the first ones coming off the bench included another 8th grader. Danyale Allex played a tough game on the blocks, bullying her way inside by lowering her shoulder and driving to the basket. 25 points on a very good percentage, I'm sure. Give credit to the Mason starters for keeping the lead out far enough so as to not give Fleming the momentum they needed to get over the hump. But if I'm in the 16th region late this season, I'm looking out for the Lady Panthers.

In girls basketball if I have 5 girls on the team consistently scoring double figures, I'll take that all season.

Fleming is the toughest 1-4 team that you will play all season. They are physically tough and Coach Orem has them playing well. They NEVER give up. If a few of their games had been another 3 minutes they might be 4-1 instead of 1-4. I would hate to be a coach who looked at only their record (without scouting them) before playing them. Fleming will get some upsets this year in the 16th.
