I will always say this, Robin Kelsch is the most underated coach in the 10th Region. The guy is solid, his loyalty to Augusta, the school, the kids and the community is awesome. Robin with his knowledge of the game could go to a bigger program and lead them to the big dance. No discredit in that statement to Augusta. Augusta and the community should be very fortunate to have a guy like Robin Kelsch to lead their kids on the basketball floor and off the court. The guy brings great passion and respect to the game, characteristics that kids need once they walk off the court into life after the game of basketball. He is a solid coach, but more importantly a solid leader.

I don't know if I could have said it better myself. Many coaches mean a lot to their respective programs but you'll be hard pressed to find a coach that means as much to the program, school and community as Robin does. He bleeds orange and black and always will. Augusta is very very fortunate

last year??? Augusta High School is a live and doing well. They are building a whole new wing on. I dont think they would do that if this was the last year.

I would hope that we could talk about Robin Kelsch and not some rumor.

I will be most happy to talk about Coach Kelsch and not some silly rumor. Professionally, and this is with all due respect to all of the local coaches, Robin is definitely one of the best to work with. You feel like he is genuinely giving you his time, and win or lose, he's always looking for you to speak after games, not the other way around. Sometimes (and I won't name names) coaches act like it's a hassle to work with the media. For Coach Kelsch, this was always furthest from the truth. Augusta has a true diamond in the rough, I liken him a lot to Coach Ormes, formerly at St. Pat. Just like what I felt like at St. Pat, I don't think Augusta could ever find anyone more loyal, more dedicated to his players than Robin. Personally speaking, I made sure to seek out Robin after last night's game with Bracken if for no other reason than to congratulate him. Like I was saying, I watched him seek out Matt, the Ledger reporter, but even if they had lost by 20, he'd have been doing the same thing. He's a great coach and an even greater person (man, I feel like I'm writing his eulogy), and like the first post said on this thread, the most underrated coach in the region.

One time there some summer games going on at Deming, he and his team came over to scrimmage and apparently former Coach Massey and didn't inform Coach Johnson about it, forgot all about the scrimmages that day poor guys had to stand out in the sun for like a half hour until somebody came to let them in.

I'll go so far to say he's one of the 10th regions best coaches and will make a team go beyond their abilities. Augusta is fortunate to him. His brother should a Head Coach somewhere to.

Coach Kelsch is a great coach dont know him personally but really respect his game play. It is very hard to make this man mad from what I see. I remember when they had the majical team in 01-02 season with Kirk, Appleman, Hinson, etc.... They knocked off a very good panther team in the the district against Fleming co. But like the second poster said no threat to A-town but if he was at higher program he could lead a good team to a state run.

It seems it all has been said and I 1000% agree with all that has been pointed out in this post. I had the opportunity to work w/Coach Kelsch and I enjoyed it tremendously. I know for a fact that no coach in the 10th region or the N. KY area loves his school or program more than Robin Kelsch loves the orange and black of Augusta. Augusta couldn't ask for a better leader for their kids on and off the basketball court.

 

I also concur w/URIT, the concession stand at Augusta is out of this world. They usually have so many choices of stuff to choose form it is hard to make a decision. They used to have the best coney sauce in the entire state!

Robin Kelsch is a perfect example of what a high school basketball coach in the state of Kentucky should be like. He loves the game, he's a good coach, he's intelligent, he's very loyal to his school, and he is a great person to know. The Augusta school system schould be very proud to have Rob as their coach.

 

I had the pleasure of attending one of his summer camps last year for a day and was pleased with the way it was ran. Rob is a very good teacher of the game and his teams compete year in and year out with a very, very small crop of players to work with.

I will second that comment about Coach Kelsch's basketball camps. For the buck, they are as good as any in the state, they are well ran, plenty of instruction, the kids are taken very good care of and play a lot of basketball during the week.

I have to agree with you all above. Rob is a class act and he is the best coach Augusta has had. He is also a caring person both on and off the court. His love for the school, students, and basketball and above everyone else IMO. He is a solid person. He is a true Augusta person and there is no doubting it, he bleeds orange and black.
