  1. As far as the Ball crew, Gary is a legend in his own mind... Sounds like one of the old "puker" deejays from the 60s...
  2. I know locally in Mayfield that WYMC will have the mayfield metcalfe game on AM 1430. IT's also on 95.9Fm in Mayfield area, and I think they have a low power stadium cast at the same frequency for those who make the trip and to hear a home town announcer. Sometimes it's funnier to listen to what coach Leahy says between timeouts while your at the stadium. Mayfield games are also on the web at http://www.96classiccountry.com
  3. If anyone wins in the district it will be for the first time. Mayfield has not lost a regular season district game since dropping to class A.
  4. Is game time still 7:30? I heard they might move it up to 7:00 so everyone can get home before breakfast on saturday.
  5. I heard Coach Mo say in his pregame interview that fumbles had only been a problem in 2 games, Graves and Murray High. I think he can now add FC game to that list. Usually by now, Mayfield is playing well, and demolishing opponents in their district. They hold on to the ball against FC, and it's more like 35 or 40 to nothing. I don't think FC ever got close to scoring until the closing seconds. Bulldogs have some good athletes, but they still have some things to learn 'bout football.
  6. I tink I'd go with Mayfield, 49-7. I'd bet the majority of this game is played in FC's haff of the field. Good luck.
  7. If this were a boxing match, it could likely be a TKO in the first round. Anything less than a running clock by early second half will be a surprise. Clock man goes home early, my prediction.
  8. You don't have to be Nostradamas to know the answer to this one. Mayfield by as many as they want. And that probably goes for the next four games after this one, too, assuming no key injuries.
  9. I'd say anyone who can give the score, who's got the ball, and how much time is left is doing a credible job. The rest is gravy to the sportscast, voice, inflection, description. I think most people don't sit and listen to a game from beginning to end. I for one, can't stand it, when I'm scanning the dial, and the announcer won't give the score, or anything else that would be considered pertinent information. I've heard some guys out there who are a disgrace to the word "announcer" and have no business behind a mike of any kind. Good help is hard to find. And I'm pretty sure, these guys, even the good ones, do this as a labor of love, as I'm betting you're not gonna get rich announcing high school sports.
  10. Graves got Mayfield on a night when the Cards just didn't show up. If Warren Central turns it over 6 times, Graves might beat them, too. I think Graves fairy tale is about to take a detour. Warren Central likely has better pass coverage, and Graves, IMO, only has an average running game, that looks really good against the sisters of the poor. Against better run defenses, it ain't much.
  11. game shud uv bin won in regulation... mcnutt missed two feild goals that he had been making this year... not the best tilghman mayfield game but at least it was dramatic.
  12. Yeah I caught the post game show, too. I haven't heard anybody else in high school broadcasts do their highlight reel like they do... I wonder what they use to do that... Can't be recorded on Cd aand played back, I wouldn't think, but it's neat to know that if i miss the game, I can still hear the highlites.
  13. I think they should start later, and limit the number of teams who make the playoffs to the top 2 in each district, now that they're going to a watered down six class system...
  14. Maybe I mistyped. Perhaps they don't represent the entire region of Western Kentucky football, but, how many state titles has Western Kentucky taken home in the last few years? I just think western kentucky football OVERALL is below par with some other areas of the state. I don't think this area's football is as good as it used to be.
  15. I don't think this county championship means anything anymore. You've got Reidland, (less than average year in and year out, with the exception of a team about 4 years ago), then Heath and Lone Oak, who are both about average. Neither of which is likely to play past the first round of the watered down playoff system. Looks like another year of overall bad western kentucky football, so who really cares?
  16. sounded like the cardinals just never got their train on the track. turn it over 6 times, and no wonder, how you can outgain your opponent in total offence, but never find the end zone. Looks like graves is a little more diveresified than some thought.
  17. Better enjoy Paul and Dave while you can... I heard them say during the Caldwell game at the aliance bowl, they were on there farewell tour... not sure what that means...
  18. Mayfield Cardinal football is on the web at http://www.96classiccountry.com. Those guys also do a low power stadium-cast, at 95.9fm, which is pretty cool cuz i can take my headset and listen anywhere Mayfield plays, especially on the road. Sometimes they leave their mikes on during commercial breaks, and that Layhee guy is really funny... even more so than on the air...
