  1. In the last few years it boils down to which team can encourage the best athletes to come to their school. Coach Beatty is beginning to win most of these battles too. The most encouragment he has to offer is his style of offense and championships won. Coach Glaser is a good man, good teacher, and good football coach. Despite his losses to Trinity in the Coach Beatty error, he will be St. Xavier's head coach for as long as he wants barring some unforeseen event. The St. Xavier administration does not look at losing to Trintiy or style of football played as the total measure of their coach despite all the pain it inflicts on alumni and supporters when losing this deeply felt and fearsome rivalry game.
  2. Wow! Just as I suspected, Trinity a heavy favorite to win. I wonder what percentage of the time these BGP polls get it right?
  3. I have a question that may lead to a solution, What amount of resources, time, money, community involvement, does it take to develop a winning football team? Does a greater empahsis on football prowess or other athletic endeavors for that matter positively or negatively affect academics? Maybe with more emphasis on football/athletics, to help develop a sense of school pride and involvement, the academics benefit. From the latest reports, it could not hurt.
  4. We could go to a 7A class and teams that win too much could be put in this class. The class would change each year by putting in the winners of other classes and taking out the losers in the new 7A class.
  5. I would suggest this solution put St. Xavier and Trinity in their own district and if that dosn't work you could add maybe Male and/or Ballard and/or Manual and/or what ever other team out of Jefferson County wins too much. :idunno:
  6. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
  7. Do you feel the St. Xavier Trinity rivalry with all its notoriety is good or bad for Kentucky High School Football or is it just another game?
  8. One starting running back returning, the other no longer with team as of last week. Leading receiver out. Defense all should be back, hopefully at 100%.
  9. Louisville Football overall is still top dog in Kentucky with Northern Kentucky a distant second. The best football schools just happen to be in 6A, as you might expect from the largest metropolitan area in Kentucky, and therefore are overshadowed by the two dominant schools St. Xavier and Trinity. 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A are also well represented by the aforemention schools making Louisville tops. As far as basing opinions on Louisville Football only on St. Xavier and Trinity, they seem to get the most exposure, are members of the large school class, and win year end and year out, so, justifiable or not opinions seem to follow their success and/or failures.
  10. I believe that: St. Xavier leads all games played between the two schools 36 wins, 31 losses and 2 ties. St. Xavier leads the rilvalry games 29 wins, 23 losses and 2 ties. Can some one verify this for me? Thanks. I will wait to later on to predict the score in this one. Injuries and personnel changes have come to play a bigger part in this game than I blelieve any one here expected. It will be interesting to see how the players for both teams step up. I do not feel this week that any of the players on either side will have a problem rising to the occasion.
  11. Ox, People must really be drinking the purple koolaid. Trinity is ranked numbe one in all polls and as you and I both know this is the best Trinity team ever only to be surpassed by next year's team. You have laid out the facts and they still do not get it. Trinity wins this game big. Sorry Purples but it is what it is, all we can do is hope.
  12. Highlands by one over the Eastern Jefferson County power Eastern.
  13. Franklin wins this week by one over Woodford County.
  14. Garrard County win by one over Wayne County.
  15. No stopping Christian County this week. They win by one over Madisonville Norht-Hopkins.
  16. Owensboro wins by one over Ohio County.
  17. Bishop Brossart wins by one over Ludlow not to repeat last years loss.
  18. Doss steps up and beats the higher ranked John Hardin by one.
  19. Butler wins by one over Western in this 6A vs. 4A match up.
  20. Holmes wins by one over Pendleton County for the victory.
  21. Marion County will win over neighboring Washington County by one.
  22. Tates Creek gets the win by one over West Jassamine and continues to try and find the swagger they had in the 1978 football season.
  23. Dixie Heights is too strong for Scott and wins by one.
