Its football, injuries happen. Its unfortunate for the Tigers yet I think they are prepared to withstand any storm at this point. Is it beneficial that Finch is out? Probably not... although, a refreshed set of legs and a full recovery from the knee injury just may be a blessing in disguise.... If St.X is fortunate to get through the first two rounds ( out of respect for the opponents ), Finch and Zoeller will be needed for round three especially if it is a travel game. X needs to pull together in the face of this adversity and not be denied...... Everyone must step up a couple of notches..... Go Tigers...

I see this game as a point which will answer the following questions? 1. Is Lafayette for real? Can they beat Trinity or stay with in 10 points? If Lafayette can win the game, or stay with in 10, I see them capable of getting to the final 4. 2. If Trinity wins big, this tells us the Rocks are marching for another title and that they should be the favorite to win it all. 3. A win by a couple of TD's tells me that this Trinity team is below Rock standards and will be capable of getting beat in final 4. => Rocks roll in this one people. Get ready for a thrilling Post season.........

Most intriging game: Trinity VS. Lafayette This game will tell us two things: 1. Will Trinity be a 6A Title contender? Yes, Rocks establish themselves as the odds on favorite to win 5 out of the last 6 Championships. 2. Lafayette is a contender to get to the Semi-final round? Time will answer these two very interesting ?'s .......

Obviously they have a strong program top to bottom, good coaching and the kids come from good homes (supportive parents..). I'm not familure at all with Russell, other than the name of the school. Its refreshing to see schools accomplish these feats. How are their academics? Sometimes when a public school has very good athletic programs coupled with very good to excellent academic standards, this creates a monster.... I mean that in a good way. Many kids want to go to school there, many parents want to send their kids there.... It can be quite a synergistic effect. Similar situations exist in Jefferson Co. with Manual, Male and Ballard. All fine schools with emerging / established athletic programs. Hats off to Russell....

Rocks always seem to rise to the occasion. They have to be the favorite heading into the big dance. Sure, X seems to have a slight edge at this point, but it belongs to Trinity. UNTIL somebody eliminates the Rocks, The Rocks will be dancing come December 8.....

Reading all of these stories kinda gets one ready for some playoff football..... We have had a good year weather wise, so the November games will probably be "poor weather" games..... Enjoy...

O - The way that I intrepret others which are saying Central in not disciplined is that they may not hold their assignments during the play. They may not be proficient in assignment football.... Not being disciplined in ones assignments on partular plays could lead to the opponent getting 6 points before one says "help" ...... If Central is to pull the upset, it will truly be a team effort and an outstanding one at that. They will have to be extremely disciplined. I hope I cleared that up for you...? I don't think anyone is trying to paint a picture of off field activities when talking about discipline... WRT to comment on leaving downtown, I think it might be best for the author to explain his words.....

I saw Ryle vs. Fern Creek a couple weeks ago and Ryle looks as if they can make some noise in the playoffs. I liked what I saw out of them. Of course, FC fumbling the first 5 times they touched the ball will always help your cause. Good luck to Ryle and Boone the rest of the way.

Floating Footballs is a new one for me. Never seen that.....

I have a couple I will share: ca. ~ 1976: Trinity vs. BD at old Cardinal Stadium in the playoffs. Wind was blowing something feirce, 35+ mph. The wind coupled with freezing temperatures made for a very cold game. Both teams came out of the locker rooms before the start of the game and second half just in time to get their teams on the field without a penalty..... Coin toss was the biggest play in the game..... Trinity won the toss and took the wind.... I think Trinity won 7 - 0. I cant remember the exact score, just the weather. Both teams just wanted to get warm....... 1999: St. X vs. Male at Manual Stadium. This was a third round playoff game. The Tigers had beaten the Dogs 39 - 3 four weeks earlier. This rematch was played in a steady downpour of a cold November rain. I would guess that it rained 1.5 to 2.0 inches during the game. It had rained all day prior to the game as well. With the ground completly saturated, there was not much turf to be found prior to game time. Midway through the first quarter, one end zone was half covered with water. Numbers were not visable on the jerseys.... We had rain gear and a large tarp on top of us, top row of stadium, but we were completely soaked.... We had no choice, it never stopped coming down. Very similar rain in the Louisiville area today (10/23)... Tigers had a little better ball control than the dogs and managed a 19 - 10 victory. The following week was the road trip to Hoptown.... (Thats another thread in itself...) and then the 4A Championship was claimed over Bryan Station and Eric Shelton. Those bad weather games are fun if your prepared to withstand the elements. Thank goodness they are not all like that. Share some of your memories of "Bad Weather Games..."
