  1. I know Caldwell likes to throw the ball. If Mayfield plays good pass Defense then I think they will win....if not Caldwell has a good shot at winning this game. I don't see Mayfield having any problems putting up points the way their offense has been moving the ball the past couple of games. Mayfield 35 Caldwell 14
  2. NORMALLY, I would love to look ahead to Beechwood, but the way this season has gone I will not count a single egg before it hatches. I agree that Mayfield can handle Crittendon if they decide to play the whole game, but thats a big IF. Not only that, but they have to beat two other teams first (Bethlehem and Holy Cross) before they get another crack at Crittendon.
  3. Marshall Co. @ Mayfield Thursday night 7:30 p.m.
  4. Even the best teams have an off game......ask the New England Patriots. Most BGP'ers from the western part of the state would probably agree that they will win it all, and its hard to best against them. However, there are several challengers (Corbin, NCC, Prestonburg, Danville, Bardstown) that will be more than happy to get a crack at the defending champs, and have a pretty good shot at taking them down. Remember, games aren't played on paper.........
  5. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I was also under the impression that he wasn't enjoying the atmosphere at Mayfield and that kinda played a factor as well.
  6. I hate it for Coach Lawson......I played under him from 98-2000 at Mayfield and he is one heck of a coach. Maybe they will look into making him head coach rather than keeping Wyatt?? However, I don't know how effective he would be as a head coach considering I don't think he has ever held that position.
  7. I stayed at the game til the 3rd quarter. Mayfield put a pretty good first half together, played good defense, and it was 7-7 before Calloway threw a 30+ yard TD pass right as the halftime buzzer sounded. That killed a lot of Mayfield's momentum and they were down 14-7 at the half. Calloway came out and ran the ball well in the second half. Their Pistol formation had good counter plays and sweep plays that Mayfield just couldn't consistently stop. Calloway's offense is one of the best in the region, I just don't know how far their defense is going to take them. Mayfield needs to keep working harder at the little things. Their bottom line is the defense needs to step up. Mayfield is not a team that is going to outscore opponents, so they need to be able to make some stops. They gave up several third down conversions and the pass defense was absolutely pathetic.
  8. Im pulling for my boy Coach Myers!!! Go panthers!!
  9. I dont think much of Calloways defense, but their offense is extremely effective.....IMO, Calloway will win by 2 touchdowns. I am just hoping that, as previously metioned, Mayfield will use last year's poor showing to motivate themselves. If they don't bring their gameface the score will be worse than last year's. I also like the fact that Mayfield got that Fulton County game under their belt, a lesser opponent that allowed them to work on some things they can't in big games. I think this year is different than any other because, traditionally, even when Mayfield struggled early in the season they always managed to pull it together and get back to the semi-finals at least. Not to mention, we didn't loose a district game for 27 years and all of the sudden we lose two in two years. I didn't expect Mayfield to ALWAYS be this dominant, but we are dropping off fast and hard......Friday night would be the perfect opportunity for Mayfield to build some much needed momentum.
  10. I am going to the game tonight hoping to see a good game. I havent seen Mayfield or Paducah play yet this season. Any fan of these two teams knows what happens when they play each other, but given the circumstances of this year, I don't know what kind of game to expect. Mayfield hasn't played well yet this season. They don't have the abundance of talent that they used to, and they are going to have to harness the team concept more than ever if they want to salvage this season.
  11. touchdown mayfield.....38-35 ballard leads....5 min left.
  12. Mayfield is still down 38-28 on the Ballard 29....5:21 to go.
  13. 38-28 Ballard leads.....9:04 to play
  14. Listening to this game is like torture......I can't take it!!!
  15. wow.....thats some sloppy ball by Mayfield....I hope they can get it together!
  16. I dont know how the first two touchdowns were scored in the game, but both Murray and Calloway scored their second touchdowns with less than a minute to go in the first half.....both big pass plays.
  17. I can't pick a winner. I think its gonna be too close. Both teams are talented, and FT Campbell is the defending state champ, but my feeling is that their overconfidence will hurt them.....GO MAYFIELD.
  18. In '98, my sophomore year, we beat them in the regular season 19-7.....both teams made it to the state finals......we (mayfield) practiced at Murray state's field to get used to the turf, and Milan was also there practicing at the same time....they went on to win it while we got embarassed by Middlesboro.
  19. I don't seem to think that last year's score will have an impact on this year's game.....if anything I think it puts more pressure on Calloway. this has been going on with Mayfield and Graves Co. also. Last year Mayfield wins 19-0, and the year before Graves whooped Mayfield 28-0. I just think lots of pressure comes with Calloway's win last year..... I do think you mentioned all the games that are tossups for Calloway.....Trigg, Mayfield, Hopkins CC, and Lone Oak....Calloway does have lots of skill coming back this year, and it really wouldn't shock me THAT MUCH if they went undefeated in the regular season b/c they have a great shot at beating everyone on their schedule. It could happen, right?
  20. For the sake of typing alot about something back in '04.........they were all great players and only one guy can take home the award.......Vaught needs to get over it and write an article about something else.
  21. Based on last years' records and the amount of returning players, Hazard looks like a tough opponent for ANY 1A team. Honestly, I think you could put the top three (Bwood, LCA, Hazard) in any order and I wouldn't question it a bit. The biggest motive for my choice is the AMOUNT of returning players.
  22. 1. Hazard 2. Beechwood 3. LCA 4. Mayfield 5. Raceland 6. Pikeville 7. Frankfort 8. Campbellsville 9. Crittendon Co. 10. Lou. Holy Cross

The team that took the biggest step in upgrading their schedule appears to be Campbellsville....I was kinda shocked when I saw it..... LCA (last years 1A runner-up) Green Co. (graduated lots of players, but i think their recent success will carry over) Danville (enough said) Marion Co. (had a great year last year, dont know what they lost Considering Campbellsville hasn't had a GREAT team in some time, I am surprised their coach beefed up the schedule to the degree he did......
