Tilghman out of the playoffs ...

Featured Replies

It was reported today that Paducah Tilghman will have to forfeit one of their two district wins because of an ineligible player and will not make the playoffs.

What a dropoff for a program that lost in the last seconds on a field goal in the state semifinals to the eventual state champion.

Sounds like the administration needs to take a long, hard look at the program ...

Well, can it be argued that coaching a track team and coaching a football team are two totally different things?

Fewer Xs and Os in track.

It's amazing what happens when you put a Linebacker in front of a track star, makes me laugh every time.

I hate it for Coach Lawson......I played under him from 98-2000 at Mayfield and he is one heck of a coach. Maybe they will look into making him head coach rather than keeping Wyatt?? However, I don't know how effective he would be as a head coach considering I don't think he has ever held that position.

Agree 100%

Saw this team in a scrimmage earlier this year and they looked like they had a lot of good athletes. They took Christian County to the wire at Hopkinsville, and had a chance to win/tie but fumbled inside Christian's 30 with a couple munutes to go. That was early -

They go from that to losing to Muhlenberg South?

Without a doubt probably the 2nd most athletic and skilled team in 3A....... yet they will be on the outside looking in. Proof that a team full of speed DOES NOT always equal success in high school.

From what I remember, he took the job at Tilghman to get away from responsibility, cause he had a baby on the way and the Tilghman job was less responsibility and less hours.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I was also under the impression that he wasn't enjoying the atmosphere at Mayfield and that kinda played a factor as well.

So depressing to fall so far from grace. I said it before and I'll touch on it again: I remember them being such a dominant force when I played back in the Billy Jack Haskins days. That guy electrified that whole ball club. I regret to see any competitor fall from such a sterling standing as the Tilghman program once was. They'll get back up, the good ones always do.

What is the deal this year with all of the schools playing ineligible players? I have never heard of so many times this has happened this year.

Can't really place all the blame on the ineligble player, I mean they would still have been in the playoffs had they just won more than 1 district game legally.

If they had beaten Muhlenberg South, Tilghman would have finished second in the district and hosted a first-round playoff game.

Wrong.

The responsibility of the mess at Tilghman rests with the head coach. The school will have to decide if he is one and done or if they want to retain him and slide further toward being classified as one of the worst teams in Western Kentucky.
