Rank the State (1A Fan Rankings)

Featured Replies

After reviewing the preseason reviews, let's hear what everyone thinks the preseason rankings will look like...I'll start with 1a but you can put in any class you'd like or all classes, for that matter....

1a

1) LCA - seems they have about the most coming back from 07 and a strong 07 at that....

2) Beechwood - they'll be right in the hunt again. I don't think they'll be quite as strong as in 07, especially in the trenches, but, will have speed to offset it....

3) Hazard - also returns alot and should be the beast in the east after an impressive undefeated regular season in 07 and long playoff run....

4) Mayfield - were young in 07 and a year of maturity will make this team better in 08....

5) Campbellsville - should be there best team in a long time and were pretty solid in 07 as the season went on....

6) Raceland - Another team with alot coming back and should be right in the thick of things thruout the year....

7) Pikeville - may struggle early with a tough non-district schedule, but, they'll be tough to handle come playoff time....

8) Holy Cross - As usual, should be the King of the metro area this year....

9) Frankfort - Lost alot of talent off that 07 team and have alot of holes to fill, but, still enough talent to make some noise....

10) Crittenden Co - Improved dramatically throughout the 07 season after a rocky 0-4 start, and have the nucleous returning....

I can certainly agree with Beechwood and LCA. Beechwood imo should always be considered at the top of all of class A and LCA will be loaded as well. I will say that imo you have Raceland just a little underrated, Raceland returns a boatload of starters from a district runner up to LCA by just a very close margin. I cannot discredit any of the others that you mentioned. I may not know enough about them to judge other than I know that they will be good.

Regardless of any of the pre season talk and hype on anyone, it all comes down to who is going to come out and give it all they have every practice, every play of every game. Games are won in the week before during practice and then if the game plan is executed on the field on Friday nights.

I am a Raceland fan and I certainly hope the Rams live up to all of the talk going around by everyone, press clippings and other praise they are and will be getting. "Talk is cheap", they need to go out, work hard and stay focused each and every day, every game and on where they want to be at seasons end and what it will take to get there.

1. Beechwood

2. Hazard

3. Lex. Christian

4. Mayfield

5. Pikeville

6. Louisville Holy Cross

7. Raceland

8. Lynn Camp

9. Williamsburg

10. Frankfort

The Wood will always be the Top Dawgs in Class A.....It does not matter what other schools have returning, the Title goes through the Tigers........

Sorry to disagree, but, the Wood will only get my vote when I think they'll have the best team and unfortunately, I don't think they do this year. I do think they'll be right in the hunt and I actually rated them #2 based on tradition, more than anything else, but, there may well be 4 or 5 teams with more talent this year...Good luck and maybe they'll make me eat my words, and I'll be the 1st to congratulate them if they do, but, some folks outside of NKy don't crown a champion based on tradition, but, by what they actually have to put on the field...

If Beechwood can manage to stay healthy they have more weapons on offence than last year. Granted, the "D" took some hits but with Mainello,Teipel,Slusher, Downton and Daniels returning, they will be as formidable as in the past!

Beechwood and LCA obviously deserve top billing for now. I will say that Bellevue will be top 10 before the season is over.

The Eastern side of the bracket is going to be very interesting, with LCA, Raceland, Hazard, Campbellsville, and Pikeville. This may be the best group of 1A teams to come from the East in a long time.

Bellevue will definitely make the Top 10 this year if not the Top 5. Good luck Tigers!

just 4 fun, you give good reasons for your picks, but I would change the order a bit.

1) (pick-em) LCA

2) (pick-em) Raceland (they only lost 1 starter)

3) Hazard

4) (toss-up) Mayfield

5) (toss-up) Beechwood

6) Pikeville

7) Campbellsville

8) Holy Cross

9) Frankfort

10 Crittendon

Perception is a such a funny thing. It could be completely unfounded but just the very belief in it can make that very perception that was untrue become true.

1. Beechwood (King of 1A till they get beat)

2. LCA (Did Coach Rains learn anything from last year's runner-up showing?)

3. Hazard (Did not lose much and should have revenge on their mind)

4. Raceland (Plays with LCA in a tough district)

5. Mayfield (Should be strong)

6. Pikeville (Should be up this year with a tough non-district schedule)

7. Holy Cross (Think about it)

8. Frankfort (Always good)

9. Campbellsville (Returns a lot and has a tough district other than Clinton Co.)

10. Williamsburg (Heard this team did well at UK camp and should have beaten Campbellsville last year)
