Mayfield's defense has been their strong point all year. I don't see Murray opening it up enough to win this game. Mayfield kept their run game bottled up for the most part in regular season. Murray will need to hit some passes to keep the defense off balance. One of Murray's touchdowns in the last matchup was a Mayfield bad snap on a punt that gave Murray 30 yards to score. And two of Murray's touchdowns last week against Caldwell were 50+ yard runs. I will be interested to see where their points come from Friday night. Murray is due for a win in this series. If any year is it, it's this year. I still think the Cards win by 10. They are a gritty bunch, and playing at home with plenty of rest and will be at full strength.

Caldwell was up 14-0. Murray came back and tied it up. Two of Murray's second half touchdowns were 50+ yards. One jet sweep left, and the other right up the gut. Then the pick six just now. Looks like Murray is headed to Mayfield next week.

It shocks me that Murray put up 41 in their first game against Caldwell running that vanilla offense. I know defense has never been Caldwell's strong suit, but it makes me wonder if they have the juice to make it to the regional round. Having seen both teams play, I think Murray has the edge with better defense and running game. Caldwell needs to control LOS and make Murray QB throw in more obvious passing situations. Dry weather will help Caldwell's cause, as they have the best passing attack in the district. Should be a good one, with less points this time. Murray by 3.

From my perspective, Mayfield has shown regional championship potential up until this point. Winning any games beyond that is a stretch. Exceeding expectations is a possibility, but they will need to be clicking on all cylinders to win a sub-state matchup. I do not see them beating Beechwood or LCA/Somerset, but can compete with or beat anyone else.

Madisonville has only beaten Ballard Memorial. Their best loss was the first game of the year against Christian County. And they are coming off of a beatdown by Hopkinsville, which doesn't bode well for confidence. Their best chance is that Mayfield has a hangover from last week's emotional win over Murray. Not sure about Mayfield's health after that tough game either. I think they are somewhat banged up and their best player (Galbreath) didn't play in that game.

I think when Murray plays well they are as dangerous as anybody in the district. Not sure what happened in the Crittenden and Tilghman games, but the Caldwell game should have put Mayfield on alert. Also, the comparable scores of the Union Co and Caldwell Co games show this to be a pretty even match (take that for what its worth). The streak has to be broken at some point. This is a year where Murray needs to capitalize on Mayfield's inexperience. They won't get these opportunities very often.

Wow. Not what I expected. PT beat Murray by 10. I thought Caldwell would win convincingly, given how they played in Mayfield game.

I thought the Mayfield/Union Co. score was more an indication of Mayfield’s disinterest rather than Union’s talent. It appears to be the other way around. PT has had trouble getting the ball rolling. I thought the Murray win would help them build some confidence.

The only game I saw Graves play was the Mayfield game. I think they will be competitive with most teams they play, but don’t have the athletes to match up with the top tier teams for 4 quarters. Other than Owensboro, their district leaves much to be desired. I don’t see this game being competitive, but Graves has proved me wrong before.

Two very good teams. I give Somerset the edge. They are home and they have the best player (Sheron).

Tilghman needs to make sure and wrap up when tackling #9. And Union Co. QB is a mobile lefty with a decent arm. Make him scramble right. PT should win this game by a couple scores at a minimum.

Mayfield should be playing their underclassmen most of this game. That's great for experience and maybe building some depth. But it's also an opportunity to let their guard down and become complacent before the showdown with Murray.

The ball definitely bounced Mayfield’s way tonight. It was nice to see them capitalize, and make the most of those opportunities. The quarterback showed more poise this game than any previous game. He had some nice, confident throws that I haven’t seen him make yet. Run game looked good. Defense played solid most of the night. PT played a sloppy game. I was disappointed for them. I know they are better than that. They are too one-dimensional. If they had a kid that could throw, they would be in business.

Mayfield is having a bit of an identity crisis right now. Their unspoken leader on both sides of the ball is out for the year with an injury. Seems to me players look around waiting for someone else to step up and make plays. The McCracken game was first game of year, and it snowballed on them, so I kinda throw that one out. They looked like a Mayfield team against Graves (not first quarter, but rest of game), but they had a slight letdown against Union Co. Which version of Mayfield shows up will tell the tale. If they play like they did against Graves I think they win. If they play like last week, they take an "L" at home.

It's tough to pick Mayfield after their offensive showing last week. I don't think they will be able to score enough to keep up with Graves. Graves - 21 Mayfield - 12
