In a close first round match up with ND. Boone County Senior Jackie Hicks reaches the 1000 point club. Jackie ended up with 20 points but ND ended up winning by four. Congratulation on a special accomplishment and a memorable High School career.

congratulations ND it was as good a game as the last 2. It was nice to see all the different players and parents congratulate Jackie when the game was over. These girls are truely special. Joe, Meredith, and Megan hold your heads up you have nothing to regret everything was left on the floor. All 4 seniors will be playing at the next level, Megan will just be in softball though. Once again Nicole showed up big knocking down the free throws and pulling down the clutch rebounds. Georgetown is getting a real gamer. Congratulations Jackie it was a good run and your mother and I couldn't be more proud of all your accomplishments and the way you handled yourself throughout your High School career. Not many players get to go to State twice in their career.

For one thing Shanease Miller is getting closer and closer to 100% after her knee surgery. She is probably only about 80% still. First time they played she could barely move on the court. She is becoming a major factor in games now which opens up Katie Mayes and Carmen Firth. Dixie now poses a few more challenges to Ludlow than before. Should be a very good game.

So you are saying there was good defense and a lot of turnovers. That does not add up when both teams score that much. If Scott County got most of there points off turnovers how did Fern Creek score. For both teams to score that much it had to be run up and down the court and no one stopping no one.

I guess they were to tired from shooting to play any defense.

Boone County coach Nell Fookes achieved her 500th victory last night at Holmes High School winning a close one 52-49. Congratulations to one of the best High School coaches in the state and best of luck Rebels the rest of the year.

If Boone doesn't find the answer to playing as a team the whole game they will get their hats handed to them by Sacred Heart. It is frustrating to see Boone play so well in stretches then play like they have never seen a basketball in others. Those stretches when they seem like they could be unbeatable are a pleasure to watch then the next 5 minutes you want to throw up with some of the unforced turnovers, missed layups, ill advised shots, and standing around. Oh well we will see who shows up against SH and if we are ready for tournament time by then.

I agree INDAZONE Stowers has done wonders with this team he has developed these girls into some very good basketball players. they not only play well they now have the mentality that they can beat you something they did not have last year. We will see how they handle their region rivals tonight. Should be a good game against Shelby Co.

I don't think they are playing to much when you add up the minutes. During any given JV game our girls that play both usually play about 12 to 15 minutes at the most in JV. Then in Varsity I would say they play about the same or maybe a little less. You add up the minutes it is not even a full Varsity game which, I have seen many Varsity girls playing the whole 32 minutes straight without a break in between games. I don't think any of Boone's girls are in danger of getting hurt playing to much. IMO sometimes it seems they need to be playing more

Coach actually gave them the day off. They need to really take a look at themselves and get back to that hungry attitude they had last year when expectations were not as high. They seem to be reading their rankings and individual write-ups instead of playing the game with passion. they think just because they show up they will get the win. Simon Kenton showed how wrong they are. IMO Simon Kenton is like Boone last year hungry to show everyone they are indeed a contender. Congrats to SK on executing a very nice game plan and sticking to it. Some observations: With Reed out our other 2 starting seniors did not step up and take control or bring the rest of the team together. They both fouled out in the 4th quarter with over 3 minutes left in the game. Jackie only took 6 shots the whole game. Part of that was good defense by Connley the rest was not making yourself a shot. Jo, bad fouls and just never got into the flow of the game on offense or defense. Our 3 big girls never got down on the blocks for an entry pass. Every time they would get the ball they were 8 to 10 feet away from the basket, except in the 2nd half by Behrens she finall got on the block and made some nice shots. We never forced SK to sag back and open up the outside. Again congrats to SK they showed Boone how it is to really want a game and then execute to seal the deal.

It looks like you all put the same clamp on Sandfoss that Boone did. Nicole looks like she held Cundiff in check except for the free throw line. That is where she made her living at Boone. I can't imagine tierney was gaurding Klei with her scoring 22 points she usually can lock down a player. Good win for ND and congrats to Nicole for the recognition.

I agree INDAZONE Boone is just trying to improve and get through the region first. I think ND, NCC, and Conner would probably have something to say about who they think will make it to state. It all depends on the draw in the Region and who plays who first. With that said I like our chances we are improving with each game which is all you can ask for. When these girls play to their potential, and we have had glimpses, it is exciting to watch this team.

Findley is probabley playing as much or maybe alittle more this year as last. Having Berhens has definitely cut down on their minutes simply because 3 are vying for those 2 spots. The one who is playing less is Brasseaux. As of late since going down to JV she has played much better. I think everyone was ready for her this year unlike last when she was an unknown at the varsity level. She has had to step her game up to the next level and I think finally she might be getting there. I look for her to continue her growth and be a big part come tournament time.

If what I hear is correct and one of the Figgins twins is out with an ACL tear it will be very tough for SK. That takes away one of their best players on offense and on the boards on defense. Look for Boone to try and trap and push the ball up the court to keep an up tempo game. SK will sit back in that match up zone and try to slow the game down. If Boone is hitting from the outside look for SK to be in for a long game.

Those that were annointing Boone as the best ever were doing so as a slap to Boone. That way when they did not beat every one they would say what happened this was supposed to be the best team ever. Those of us that are close know the difference. Just read my post when I predicted the outcome of the game. I said a good matchup with Boone's bench being the difference. I said Jacy would step up and shut down Sandfoss (which she did) and attack the basket better (which she did). You are right about 8 points not being a blow out but I know of no one saying we were going to blow them out, but realistically looking at the game they brought a 20 point lead back down to 8.

A game that looked like it was going to be a blow out became somewhat close in the 4th. Boone stopped attacking the basket and let NCC back into the game. Fouls also plagued the Rebels as they put Cundiff on the line time after time. On a good note the Rebels played good hard nosed defense holding Klei to only 11 points. Good job JoJo and Jackie. Meredith Reed posted her first double double in her high School career with 12 points and 10 rebounds but was hurt in the 3rd quarter and never returned hope it is nothing serious. Jacy attacked the basket with determination and shot the 3 when they backed off. It is hard to gaurd this team when they have all cylinders running. You can not key on any one player and then to go 9 deep makes for a tough night for any opponent Only thing Rebels need to work on is dumb fouls and we keep sending the other team to the line. Our opponents have probably tripled our free throw attempts. On a real positive note 4 more wins for Coach Fookes 500.

We will get to see firsthand how good she is tonight. Looking for Jacy to step up and play tough Defense while making her work at the other end trying to contain her. On paper this looks to be a good matchup with Boone's bench being the difference. Go Lady Rebels!!!

I was in no way being petty. Just repeating what Old Guy wrote in his post. I usually agree with most of Old Guys postings so he was not under my skin. I was being genuine when I wrote their #3 ranknig was pretty strong. I am just hoping the outcome this year is the same as last. ND ranked well up there in the state and we sneak in and take the Region.

Number 3 ranking is pretty strong. Now maybe Boone can sneak in under the radar the rest of the way and ND can carry the load. Like 3point said rankings mean nothing if you don't back it up with good basketball, and eventually getting Diddle.

Evidently the coach never handled the situation very well because she got a technical in the game she played, and one in the previous game. Any time a player is wearing their uniform they represent their school, their coach, and the other players. They should be held to a higher level than the ordinary fan. This is not heresay when a RoseHill fan attested to that fact. It sounds like a problem that the coach has not addressed properly or it would have stopped.

I think there are plenty of coaches on this site so I will ask them. If one of your players got technicals in 2 consecutive games what action would you take. I can only say what I have seen and that is swift correction action was taken. On a totally different note are these the same refs that did such a good job when Boone played Russell? Everyone thought they did a bang up job then.

Same player from the same team gets technical fouls in consecutive games. If that person was playing for any other coach I know they would be benched for at least a couple games for impropper conduct. That is disrespect for the game and their coach.

I would never want the refs to determine the final of any game. If I thought our refs were homering another team I would be the first on here to say how wrong that was and apologize to the other team. Let the girls fight it out and the best team wins. Next let me say that I take nothing away from the Russell players, class acts all the way. They even offered to help up our players when they did get tangled up. No trash talking or dirty playing at all on their side and the coaches even gave us parents pizza at the end of the game a nice bonus for the ride home. Like I said before good luck to both teams in the future.

You are correct about some of the fouls coming at the end but that was 3 or 4 at the most. Boone pressed most of the game not just the end. I have no problem with foul calling as long as it is consistent. Several times IMO Russell was bailed out from a turn over by a foul when Boone had them pinned. Then under the basket they let them pound each other which benefits Russell since Okoro is so much stronger than any of our girls. I would never say that 1 ref cost us a game but the grey haired ref made it tough for Boone to get on any roll. Just look at our unforced turnovers and shooting percentage and that will tell you how Boone lost the game, but to overcome those 2 things and a ref who for what ever reason did not like us makes for tough row to hoe.
