  1. Jessica Farris was the high scorer with 19 points! Walton was overmatched from the beginning with Simon Kenton nailing the 3's against Waltons zone defense.
  2. The only way a zone will work against SK is if they are having a terrible shooting night. They have 4 girls that start that can hit the 3 every time down. That being said they also rebound well so even if they do miss put backs will be plentiful. Hargett is a good player but for Sks defense 1 player will be easy to stop. SK-55 WV-25 depending on how long the starters play.
  3. I would agree 100% about SK being the top and every one else falling behind somewhere. No one will be putting up big numbers against their swarming defense. They are my pre-season favorite until someone shows me different.
  4. I forgot one. If Morgan McLeash gets some help at Ryle she could be one of the stand out gaurds in the 9th.
  5. I think you would have to put Hodges from Conner in there and Tierney from NDA if she comes back healthy. If Webb from Holmes continues to play like she left off she could be in the mix. Highlands has a couple players that could break into the top 10 also.
  6. Sounds like you might have some inside information about some one else leaving the Rebels. I think the person he is taking about is that sharp shooting guard Sam Bowling who is questionable about returning for her senior year.
  7. Could be some sad news from the Rebel front. Rumor has it Lacy Brassauex and family could be moving back to Louisianna where they are from. If this indeed happens makes the top rung of the 9th even more of a toss up. I guess everyone will hear if this comes to fruition it the next couple of weeks. I don't think it is 100% yet. If it does happen Boone is losing a quality person in Lacy I thought she would be the leader of that team this year. All the girls look up to her and not just because of her height.
  8. I gave my outlook on the region on another thread. To long to give again but I see it as Boone, Highlands, and NCC with ND knocking on the door. Conner has some good players but other than Hodges I see no other rebounders. and once again they will get hurt by bigger teams in the paint. Long and Beasley will be pressed from the minute they leave the locker room. How they handle that will determine how far they go.
  9. Having no dog in this fight any more here is my outlook for next year. ( I am still biased toward Boone though.) Conner lost their 2 work horses in O'Neal and Fanchier. If the big girl is gone like I heard they will have no height at all. Beasley and Long will be hounded leaving Hodges and Kreamer to do most of the scoring. I do not see them going as far as they did last year. Notre Dame for obvious reasons will be playing a different game this year. Teams will not have to pack the paint and will be able to gaurd the 3 point line against Jackson and until someone steps up to run the point they will be very pressable. Holmes had a break out year, but they are in the same boat as ND nobody to run the point now that Slade has graduated. If they expect Weaver to handle the ball more that will take away from her scoring. Webb steped up big in the Region but where was she all year. Weaver will be one of the top players in the region but not enough other weapons to make Holmes formidable. For 1 reason or another NCC has not lived up to their talent. They have basically the same team as last minus Klei. Just looking at that and comparing them to last year you would say no chance. Here is the thing they do have going for them a good point with experience and a good inside with experience that right there gives them a leg up on many other teams. I think also not relying on Klei will make the rest of the girls improve and play with more confidence. If they get Savanah or even one of the younger girls to step up I see them as a top 3 team in the Region. The best thing Highlands has going for them is they will be playing the same game as last year. Run and wear you down. If Allen comes back healthy they will be that much bigger and better. They pose the biggest obstacle for every one else in the Region. A definite favorite in the Region. Now for my beloved Rebels. They like NCC have the best inside outside game going with Bradley and Behrens. You throw in Lacy getting over her Sophomore slump and Findley at the other forward that is a huge front line. Sparrow will be sitting on the 3 point line just waiting to knock them down. The only thing is they need someone to step up and be a leader. Having said all that I beleive it will be Boone, Highlands, and NCC as front runners with ND knocking on the door.
  10. Flatrock I let you bait me into that when most of my frustration had diminished. Cooler heads have prevailed and I only wish the best for the Boone girls. I choose to remember the good times from the last 4 years and there were many. To my good friends still there keep the girls focused and playing as a team they need to realize that is their strenght. Feed off each others strengths it will only bring you closer together as a team and as individuals. GO BIG BLUE.
  11. So you are saying Flatrock that the graduating class was the problem last year with Boone? Just my opinion but I see it 180 degrees the other way. The underclassmen tried to do to much and did not use the experience of the Seniors and their leadership to help them improve through the season. It was as if they thought the Seniors were getting to much of the attention and not them. Until they learn to play unselfishly there won't be enough balls for that team.
  12. I had heard from the grapevine about your daughter. Same reason we did not go further last year I would guess is the main reason. I have the other girls side of the story PM me the real reason. If you happen to run across my daughter see if you can light a torch under her she has the "summer off itis". She is really going to feel it when her college starts their summer work outs. See ya down the road.
  13. I beleive Morningstar is her maiden name. She was only married a couple of years ago.
  14. It sounds like you have something personal against her. That is not something a casual observer would write about someone who had to be watched by college recruiters. Then offered a scholarship after seeing her.
  15. Congratulations to all the girls who are continuing on to what ever their endeavors are. That is not the point of this thread. The point is was it or was it not disappointing, or imature, or not acting like a young adult to not let someone know they would not attend the try-outs. I am just referencing the ones who no-showed. I say this because I know personally several girls who may not be in that top 20 but who most certainly are in the next 20 who would have loved to take their spot for a chance to play on the all star team. Of course that is just my opinion.
  16. I think there would have been many girls who would have come to the try-outs who in my opinion would have been as good or maybe better than the ones that chose not to come. Granted, most everyone who follows girls basketball would be able to pick the 20 best players in the State, but after that I think you probably have 20 or 30 girls of equal talent with different strengths. So if some of those choose not to attend that would give another player with equal ability a shot at making the team not to mention giving the coaches more talent to look at. I don't think 3point belittled any one player in particular. If a girl chosen informed their coach or the coaches running the program they could not attend that is all they had to do. It is the ones that just did not show up are the ones that were made reference to. No apology needed to any of them.
  17. It is Midway. It is a NAIA divison 2 school just outside of Lexington.
  18. Jackie had her official signing Friday at Boone. It was nice to see all her previous coaches and teachers there for the signing along with about 50 of her friends from school. The head coach and assistant were there from Midland, shows there dedication to each of their new signees. My hats off to Boone administration for letting everyone attend during school hours it was a memorable moment for Jackie.
  19. I have no dog in this fight either and I disagree. IMO if you put any Junior with average skills in place of Faulkner and Rose Hill would still have had the same record. I did not read any articles during the year where a game was won because of Faulkners play or contributions, but I read several where her play or antics may have cost them. On second thought A team player with average skills who is a Junior may have allowed RH to go further. The way I see it is since Queen and Terry were constatly double and triple team 1 other decent player should have had carreer stats every game and I did not see this happening with Faulkner.
  20. My daughter roomed with Whitney and said she was an extremely nice young lady not to mention one heck of a basketball player. Wish she could have gotten one of those dunks to go down.
  21. You are wrong about the second half Scotter the 3rd five started the 2nd half and ended up at 53 to 53 with 15 minutes to go. the next 5 minutes is where the Ohio team made there move. I agree with 3pt shooter I was not overly impressed with Terry. Not because she is not a very good player but because she doesn't involve her team with her play. When she gets the ball her first thought is how can I attempt to score. Being from Rose Hill this was expected of her and Queen but in the all star game there were no weak players she had to compensate for. The other 4 made good passes to open players Terry not one. Don't get me wrong she was not the only one to do this. On the other 2 teams this was the rule and not the exception. That and the lack of good defense was the only negative I saw.
  22. I have reservations about him being a good coach or not. When Boone played Ryle in the regional he gave up on winning the game and let all his seniors down IMO. It was heartbreaking having to watch those girls have to stand with the ball while being down so he would not lose by a large margin. In the first half when they were playing they actually were doing well and were only down one at half. In the second half he went to a stall when his team was down 6 points and ended up losing by 8 or 9. No class letting the seniors go out that way.
  23. InDaZone you are picking Boone 5th in the region? I no longer have a dog in the fight but I don't see Conner, Highlands, or NCC beating them next year. I am going with another Boone or ND region winner with Boone coming out on top. It will be a little role reversal between the 2 with Boone having the bigger line up next season. Another factor will be if Tierney comes back 100%.
  24. I agree with Old Guy lets get through the State games. With all the so called power houses losing the State title is wide open and ripe for picking for ND. If Dickman and Drees can keep the underclassmen on an even kiel through the first game ND has a good or even better chance than most to make the finals. Good luck Pandas
